| I need advice or help please I use to always keep bows in maggies hair but to keep them in, I had to use a band on her hair. And it sure has broken her hair so bad. Her hair isnt near as long or thick as it was. So I just quit putting anything in there over a month or more ago. But her hair doesnt seem to be growing or thickening up much at all , if any. I feel terrible about this and I dont know of anything to help her hair grow back but give it time and leave bows out. I finally found some tiny clip bows that would of stayed in great before the band broke it. Now they will stay in still pretty good. But I'm scared now to put anything in her hair. I did try one of those one day just to see and they worked great. So i'm just hoping her hair grows back thick and longer soon so she can use these. If anyone has any ideas to help it grow fast, I would certainly try it and do it. But for now, no more bows for maggie and I LOVE the bows in her hair. all help appreciated.

| well first.. the clips that Des sells on her website are GREAT.. Layla wears them.. she also wears little tiny clamps clips that you can get at walmart in the "girly" hair section. Second, Layla wears a harness most of the day, especially if she is with my parents at work, and i've noticed that the hair under her harness is broken and very short and fine. I guess i really dont' have much help.. lol... but just letting you know layla is the same way. just not on her head |

| I just use the cloth bands for babies, (I dont know what you call them). I call them scrunchies but they arent really. I use them on a daily basis and only use the bows with rubberbands on special occasions. I cant use barrettes or clips and such because the other dogs will rip them out and chew them up. I also use the harness vests and dresses that are handmade instead of store bought ones and only let them wear them when we are out walking or in the car. Other than that they go nekkid. | I have the same problem with Kaya's top knot hair. All of a sudden it's like it disappeared. Her hair is thin to begin with. Now there isn't enough there to do anything with. I don't know of a way to make hair grow faster... just good nutrition and supplements. I can't keep the cloth ones in any of my dogs - they slide right out. I wish they would stay in, it would help a lot. The clips, well, they slide around and never stay put. Maybe I don't know how to put them in right. Geez, if we can put people in space, we can surely figure out a good way to keep top knots in without wrecking hair!!! |

| I have the same issue with Sissy's hair. It is really fine and thin on top. I have noticed that with using the bands that Des sells we don't have nearly the same breakage as with other bands. Unfortunately, none of the clips (not even the small one Des sells) will stay in her super fine hair without a band. I will give her a rest from her cute top ponytail when we are just staying in as the hair mostly stays back out of her eyes on it's own.

| You can buy the baby scrunchies most anyplace, they work well, don't break the hair at all and are cheap. My dogs live in them unless we go out and they need something more. Facial hair grows so slow. |

| Shaws Royal Coatalin used on the hair before you put the rubber bands in really helps protect the hair from breakage. This is another great tip from my mentor, Mardelin.

| I wouls like to suggest a massage on the top of the head as often as you can do it to get the circulation going good. it will help the hair grow faster. mine love their massages.

| Another great product is MegaTek coat rebuilder by Eqyss. I think it really helps grow coat. I also never put a band in without using a cream on the hair first. The same for wrapping. |

| Jan, not to get off topic much, but somehow I've missed you on here before. I'm really glad to see more show people coming on and would like to know more about you and your dogs. Where you show and what lines you have. Mine is Mardelin/This Time & Pastoral.

| I've never heard of it either. btw, as far as scrunchies go, they dont work for maggie either. But I do have these tiny tiny bows on the tiny clasp that someone told me about here at yt from ebay. A lady on their sells them, seems she got the idea for them for her babys hair when it was so thin, and they are very small and all of mine are so pretty. I got like 15 from her a while back and they stay in maggies hair better than any shes had but I've only let her wear one all day once to see if it stayed in and it did most of the day. other than that , shes just going without . I never put a harness on her anymore except to go to the vet and back. she is a pretty free little girl and now , not even bows. i've learned my lesson the hard way.

My furkids Donating Member | This happened to Sadie too. She doesn't have a long coat to begin with. When I brought Lillie home and her and Sadie started playing (after a few weeks) Lillie would grab onto Sadies ponytail and break her hair. I ended up having to cut the top of her hair short. It is growing back and it is thicker. I use the ponytail cloth elastics that you can buy at wal-mart in the kiddie section. they have like a little bow on them. I think the girls have them on in my avatar...don't know if you can tell though..pic is a little small. I don't have good luck keeping the clips in..Lillie will keep them in but, Sadie wiggles her head into the pillows to get them out...which doesnt' help with the hair breakage either. If you find something that works good...please share!!

| I've checked a couple of site and quite a few are out. This one did still have it in stock.http://www.petsonthepark.com.au/prod339.htm. It's kind of hard to find at times, but it's really good. If this place is out, just search Shaws Royal Coatalin. It's worth the search.
