| I have never used one,but considering doing so.My groomer kept Rocco and Sissy for 6 hours last time and I'm done! I think they might charge a little more and in my opinion is worth it. Good luck. |

| I've used a mobile groomer one time and wasn't thrilled. First you should ask if the groomer is trained for breed specific cuts. I didnt think to ask that and when she got here she didn't even know how to trim the yorkies ears! They only get FFT done! I guess that is my main complaint though The van came to my house, parked in the driveway and did one dog at a time inside the van. I do believe it is less stressful on them, thats for sure. They do not like the owner near the van because it makes it harder to get the dog to settle down. It was more expensive, however I don't remember how much more?! Sorry..... I would say it doesn't hurt to try it and if you happen to get a good groomer, I think you'll be happy.

| I use a mobile groomer and she's the absolute best! How mine works is she comes and parks in front of our house and then comes and knocks and takes each of the monkey's out one at a time. It's so much less stressful on them and me too. I am welcome to come out and watch if I want or to pop in as I please through out the process. I interviewed until I found someone I felt comfortable with and she actually had to feel comfortable with us and accept us too. Anything else I can answer let me know...Oh by the way I appreciate your starting the gall bladder thread. I found out today that I am in the same boat you're in with needing to have mine removed also so the topic couldn't have come up at a better time.

| A friend of mine used a mobile groomer for her german shepard for just a bath. The groomer let her pop in and out as much as she wanted. She was very happy with it. There was no hair cut involved though. I inquired at one company about this and she told me that she parks in front of your house and will need to hook up to your electric outlet. I don't know if they all do this or not. She has her own water supply though. This particular company was so expensive that I decided not to use it.

| Go online and look for mobile groomer vehicles - they use recycled water. Their vehicles only carry so much water - and they typically use a hydro system that recurculates the water. I use this system for the vet grooming shop I work for and I have to tell you while it saves him on his water bill the cleanliness of the dogs is comprimised. With the mobile system if you're the first groom of the day - lucky you, then all you have is your dogs dirty water, but if you're the last... Having said that - I have seen some great groomers who own their own mobile vans. I just don't like the hydro system. When I built my shop I refused to use the hydro system. Clean water for every part of the bath is key to a great groom. The hair doesnt cut or dry well when oily or dirty. Also ask if the person is experienced or ceritifed. If certified by what authority? Are they members of a grooming organization? Do they attend continuing education classes? Find a groomer that does one-on-ones where your pets are the only ones in the shop. I never kennel my clients dogs - the have a play area until it's time to groom then once groomed they go in a gated area and when parents come I pop them up on the grooming table and do a final brush out and ask them to comment on the cut. Any changes that need to be made get done. There are some great small shops out there just begging for great clients! Ask a lot of questions - ask other Yorkie owners who they use?

| I called a mobile groomer and found they were charging over double what my regular groomer does. I liked the idea of it but couldn't justify that much more money.

| I thought that a mobile groomer was the best idea for Lola. I can't imagine leaving her at a groomer's for hours on end. It is pricey. It costs about $70 I think. Lola's is $80 + tip because she gets an Aloe Dip for dry skin. She loved her first Mobile Groomer, but she injured her back. The company hired a new lady. Lola likes her too, and she is really great at giving Lola the perfect cut. LoveMyGirlz- May I ask who you use?

| Mobile groomer are always more expensive because they can not do as many dogs per day as a salon. They spend quite a bit of time driving from dog to dog and cleaning up their van after each stop. Figure at least 50% more. So if you are used to paying $50, then if you go the mobile groomer route figure at least $75. There are good mobile groomers and bad mobile groomers just like in a salon. There are franchise mobile groomers who may have little training just like the big corporate petsomethings. The big plus to mobile is the time factor. Your dog is in and out in an hour or less and you can probably watch up to a point. For some dogs this isn't actually less stressful however. Where I work we do a little bichon that was a basket case when it was being done by a mobile groomer. The owner came in and interviewed us because her dog would run and hide and shake like a leaf when the groomer showed up. She said it had gotten to the point where her dog wouldn't come to her anymore because she seemed to be holding a grudge against the owner. So she decided to give us a try. The first time she was really worried about leaving her dog (for 3-4 hours) and called several times. Now several grooms later (comes in every 3 weeks) she comes in wagging her tail, runs around greeting everyone and willingly jumps into a crate. The owner is amazed in the change in her dog. She's back to her happy self. The only thing we can guess is the pace of mobile grooming might be stressful for some dogs. They are bathed and then dried without a break. Also drying a dog immediately from the tub takes quite a bit longer so more time for the dog to deal with the scary, noisey dryer. In a salon setting the dog can be bathed and wrapped in dry towels to drip dry for a while and then blown dry really quickly. Anyway, point is, all salons and all mobile are not the same. Find what works best for you and your baby. Don't just assume your baby is suffering if he/she is at the groomers for several hours. Lots of dogs really seem to enjoy their "spa" day. Sure, they often spend quite a bit of time sitting in a crate waiting their turn for their hair cut. Some snooze. Some watch the other dogs. Also, your dog immediately picks up on how you are feeling so if the idea of leaving him is stressing you out your dog will feel that.
