| I groom mine myself. Don't trust the groomers especially after all the horror stories that I have heard. I learn how to do it myself and so far, I am doing pretty good. The only thing is, I don't know how to pluck the fur in his ears.

| I use a nose hair trimmer for getting my boy Blaines hair out of his ears, I never have a problem and they are safe to use on his ear. He doesn't even flinch when I use them, where I use my regular pair of hair cutting clippers to get his back side and his belly and he doesn't like it because the clippers sound loud and the clippers vibrate way to much for him, but other than that I don't have a problem grooming myself either, I just thought I'd post this so that other people who haven't thought of grooming themselves know what they could possibly face if they put their trust in some of these so called groomers. |

Do you need to hold Blaines to clip the hair out of his ears? Siu Pao wouldn't let me get near his ears when I hold a small pair of scissors with rounded ends so I really have no idea of how to do it. Even when he is on top of the table for grooming, he freaks out and wiggles a lot. Are there any tips to make things easier when it comes to the hair in their ears?

| How old is your dog??? If he is still a puppy then you can train him to stay still. I trained Blaine from when he was just 12 weeks old, that is when I started using blow dryers on him and clippers. At first I had to hold Blaine still by holding on to the hair under his chin. To get him used to the blow dryer, I would bring him into the bathroom with me and let him see me blow dry my own hair, I would give him the opportunity to sniff the blow dryer before I turned it on when he would start to lose interest in the blow dryer I would turn it away from him so the air wouldn't hit him and turn it on, which would peek his interest and back he came for more sniffs, at first he would creep up on the blow dryer like he was scared of it and was going to attack it but after awhile he realized it was just something I used that made noise. After doing that a couple of times a week with him I started to slowly introduce him to the heat of the blow dryer by turning it on and letting the air hit his side only for like two minutes and eventually he got used to it so much that he doesn't run from it, I basically did the same thing with the trimmers, I let him sniff it while it was off, then I would turn it on and let him sniff it, then I would use it only a little on the tip of his ear so that he could feel it and after doing that a couple of times he also got used to it. Another thing to consider is where you got him from, if it was a breeder with more than two litters a year, then most likely she/he didn't have the time to handle the pups when they were just weeks old, to get my new babies used to grooming I use a small human baby brush and comb set to comb the hair and the belly area, I also rub the bottom of their paws to get them used to having their paws handled and I brush their gums with water and a small extra soft baby toothbrush, I rub their airs and lightly hold their ears as if I was going to shave the ear, at first all the babies give me a hard time but eventually they get used to being handled and can then go on to their new owners without fear of being handled and groomed. I hope I was able to help, I know I have the tendency to ramble on. |

| He is 8 months old. He is good with the blow dryer, brushing, clipper, everything except for anything to do with his ears. He was okay with it all but never okay with clipper or scissors and wouldn't let it near his ears. Oh well, I'll just get hubby to hold him while I do it then.
