Donating YT 500 Club Member | Advice on clippers....Can I use pet or people clippers? I recently cut Taycie's hair with a spare of clippers that I have acquired over the 8 years of being a hair stylist. I am taking up the home grooming, because the last time I took her to the groomers, I wasn't very impressed. I recently did the Joey/Zhoie Haircut on her and she looks sooooo adorable! I modified it slightly..(anyways, I need to post pics)... I LOVE it and I really am thinking I am going to be keeping her in this cut. So now... I need to purchase some tools.. The reason I ask is I can get a pretty good deal on really nice people clippers, I pay wholesale, so when I look at pet clippers I get sticker shocked. Yes, there are people clippers that are crazy expensive, but I found what I like... What works the best for you? If pet clippers work better, that might be the way to go.. I am just not sure because I have never used any.. Suggestions please Thanks a bunch!

| I've heard a lot of people recommend Oster on here and that's what I got. It's for pets, from Walmart & was on sale for $25, I think regular $32. Came with an adjustable blade, 5 guards, dog brush, comb, barrettes, blade oil. I've used it a few times for her shorter cuts & love it. I'm letting it grow a little more now, so I'm not sure of how it will work "trimming" or if I'll even use it for that. It's also very quiet & didn't get hot where I was uncomfortable to use it and believe me, it took me plenty of time to do it the first couple times!

This is why I was thinking in getting people clippers because you can buy longer attachments. The set I have goes up to 1 inch... then when I was Petsmart this weekend they have a set of attachements up to 1 1/4 inch. They are 19.99. They are universal so they should fit, if you are looking for some longer guards that will cut off less hair. Oster Universal Comb Attachment 10-Piece Set - Grooming - Dog - PetSmart I just groomed Taycie with a set of older clippers that I had and they worked BEAUTIFULLY. They occasionally will go on sale at Sallys for $30 so I am going to watch the adds and probably just pick up another pair. I know they cut well and hold up well too.

| I've been using people clippers on my toy poodle for over 10 years. The dog ones would go bad faster and I am still using my people one. I just used it today on my yorkie puppy and it worked great. Course I did her face with scizzors but will use it on her legs when she isn't so afraid of the sound and vibration. So I vote for people clippers. |
