| question about coat Yorkie coats really confuse me. I've read about silky coats, hard silky coats, cottony coats, modified silky coats, wiry coats, etc. I would like to know what type of coat Yoni has but he is only 10 weeks old so it's kind of difficult to tell. Here's what I can tell you... -When I take a picture of him, his eyes flash blue -You can already see light gray coming in on his head and he has white on his chest -His father was very light-colored. Not parti, just very light. -His fur is soft, but seems kind of thick. I'm not sure if this is typical of all baby coats, and I really don't have anything to compare it to so maybe it really isn't that thick. -His fur feels more like cotton than silk right now, but he is only a baby. I'd just like to know so I can get an idea of what I'm in for. I know that cottony coats require a lot more grooming in order to prevent matts. His parents were both cut short at the time, and I completely forgot to ask what their coats were like long (I just sent an email about it so hopefully I'll know soon). Here is a picture of him.... |

| From what I understand you can't really tell until they lose/grow out their puppy coats. I think the parents are usually a good way to judge. When they are older a silky coats eyes will glows green or yellowish green and a cotton glows red/orangish when their eyes catch the flash of a camera or light.

| I have been curious about the same thing with my little yorkie. Only time will tell I guess. I can see as her hair has been growing on her head it is really silky feeling and looking. Hoping the rest of her body will be like this. The hair on her body is starting to grow more. And I see more the steely grey fur growing. I know right now, with the puppy coat, it is more prone to tangles/matts. So, I brush Princess several times per day. And use a comb to work thru any teeny tiny tangles that appear from where her harness rubs. I have found a shampoo and conditioner that has silk fibers in it that should help with any tangles. I also have bought a conditioning spray that I use when I brush her. I found a bathing mitt that I am also using at bath time to help keep the tangles out. How long does it take for the adult hair to come in completely? Anyone know? |

| Yeah, just about all of us have had that question at one time or another. But like mom always said, patience is a virtue. He's still a little young to tell for sure. Sometimes a breeder can have a pretty good idea if they know their lines. Without that, be patient a little longer. |

| He's definitely a cutie! I have read about all the color flashes, and if it's blue, it's just "puppy eyes." You'll just have to wait and see.
