| Airport Security/Body Scans? Cissy and I are flying to VA in a few days and I am curious about the new airport body scans. Last time we flew they did not use the body scanners. I had to remove Cissy from her bag, hold her while going throught the metal detectors and send her bag through the screener. Now that they are using body scanners, how does that work with the pets? Has anyone been through these with pets? They show that you have to put your arms up, etc but I'm wondering what you do when you are holding a pet. Thanks for any advice! I always try to know what we will experience so we will be prepared.

Donating YT 2000 Club Member | You have to be "selected" for a body scan, so I wouldn't be too concerned about it. I have traveled about 4 or 5 times with puppies for either a dog show or to take to their new owners since the updated security and the process has not changed from the way you described it. Don't be stressed and give yourself plenty of time and things will be fine. |

| I travel with mine quite frequently. What I was told, is that if you are selected for a body scan you will have two choices: either send the dog through with another person (only possible if you are traveling with other people obviously) or go through the regular scanner with the pup first, put them back in the bag and then you alone will go through the body scanner. I usually travel with other people so I figure I would just send the dog through with someone else.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I just flew to Phoenix from Chicago. In Chicago I didn't see them use the body scanners pn anyone while we waited in line. In Phoenix I didn't even see a body scanner unless I missed it. I would think they would help you out if selected for a body scan.

| Body Scanners are not antwhere close to full implementation... most airports don't even have them... and the ones they do generally have them located at international hubs... so you are more than likely going to travel w/o worries of the Big brother scan!

| Many of major airports now have the body scanners, but they also have the regular walk-thru metal detectors as well. If both are present, when traveling with a pet, you still hold them in your arms and go through the metal detector.
