PLEASE PLEASE help with my potty issues

Madeline is 2 1/2 and Jager will be 1 next month.
We use the puppy pads and for teh most part, they go on them. Is it too late to try and retrain them to go outside?
I am losing my mind. I allw them to have the run of the house when we are home with them, but there is always a surprise pee spot somewhere we step in or on my bed sometimes ( lke this morning as i went to make my bed and there is a HUGE pee spot that dripped down one side of my BRAND NEW WHITE down comforter. )

we keep them gated in our bedroom and take the comf, off the bed during the day while we are at work, but there is always a mystery pee spot somehwere. The way my house os set up, i can only confine them to a small area if i put tehm in the play yard ( a gated pen) or if i gate them in a bedroom, but then they cant be with us. But if we alow them the freedom, they are peeing all over my house.

i cant stnad looking at pads and pee all over my floor.

I dont know about training them to go outside because Max only uses pee pads. but I do know that they should be confined in a small area maybe a spot in the kitchen where there is nothing but the pad. Im sure you will get some great advice from members that have been where you are. Potty training takes a lot of time and patience. It takes more time with some than others.

Welcome to YT. Yes, I think the problem is they have to much freedom. You need to confine them to a smaller area and then gradually enlarge it as they prove themselves. If you want them out with you how about tethering them to you with a leash? That way you can keep track of them and watch them closer.

I have kept my little guy basically in his little bed most of the time. He sits in it right next to me during the day while i work. When I take him out of the bed its either to eat play with me or go outside.

Maybe the space you are giving them is just a bit too much and they are taking advantage of it.

Have you tried crate training?

i have a 12 week old yorkie who is learning to use his pee pad. he's doing pretty great on pee'n on it, but for some reason he refuses to poo on the pad. are there any tricks to fixing this? thanks.

He might not realize it's there for poo too. Next time he does poo pick it up and wipe a little spot on the pad. Then put him to smell it. It has worked for me. It's good to tell them what they should be doing on that paper.

I started off training my dogs to use the pee pee pads as well, but I got tired of cleaning up the pads so I trained them to go outside. While I wasn't at home they are in crates, so that if they have a accident they have to lay in it...and they HATE it! So while I was home I still had a pee pee pad down at first, but then every hour or two I would take them outside and told them to go potty. It took about a month for them to learn to go outside. So now I don't use a pee pee pad at all and there are no more surprises on my carpet. You just have to make sure that you keep taking them outside so they know thats were they need to go. We bought poochie bells http://www.inthecompanyofdogs.com/it...p?T1=D71045+BK and taught Scooter and Maya to ring their bell to go potty outside. You can even make your own bell. It took awhile.......but they almost always use the bell.

thank you for all your advice!! i will definately try these things! i've been waiting to take him outside bc it has been so cold here! as soon as it warms up i plan on trying that too.
