Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Something is wrong with my baby, Brewster We got our Brewster last Sunday, so we have had him 8 days. I took him to the vet on Tuesday to make sure he is healthy. All week I have felt something was wrong. He hasnt wanted to eat & I have tried about 3 different foods. I have been giving him Nutri Cal, I have been giving him water with a syringe when I dont see him drinking. Yesterday, his poo turned to a very dark brown, almost black. I wondered if he had blood in his intesinal tract. He does play with the others, but in my opinion not like other puppies. He doesnt have the energy that Baxter and Bayleigh have and they are only 1 month apart in age. He should be very spunky at 5.5 months. Tomorrow he was scheduled for his neuter, when I took him last Tuesday they said, he looks great lets do his neuter next week. I called at 1pm today and they said have him here by 2. I just didnt want to go forward with a neuter if something was going on. They did a fecal, and took blood. They kept him and sent me home and said they would call me in an hour. I am so sad and if something happens to him I will be heartbroken. He is health guranteed, I just hope everything comes back OK. I guess I will know soon. | Oh I am so sorry that you are so worried! I am sure he will be fine. Lexi and Bentley are only a week apart and she acts so different then him. So much calmer and laid back. Bentley is going going all the time! Please let us know what the dr. says. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Thank you so much. I hope it is nothing more than a bug or worms. They tried to do the fecal last Tuesday and werent able to because he was fussy. They were going to do it when he came for his neuter. Anyway, I am hoping for the best. Thanks for the encouragement. Here is a picture I took just before we left to the vet. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | So the Vet did a full blood panel on my boy, everything was normal. The fecal also came back negative. However, he was slightly dehydrated. She said it was not severe, but he needed fluids. So, I left him there and they did the IV. I was able to pick him up at 6:00. She also said she believed (by what I described) he has a sensitive tummy. She put him on Prescription Diet this week, she also told me to give him 1cc of Immodium every 8 hours for 3 days but no more than 5. She scheduled his neuter for 1 week but said she wanted me to call Saturday to let them know if I think it needs to be pushed back again. She feels his lack of eating is him being in a new surrounding and that I will see a major difference this time next week. (I hope so) Tonight, I can tell he feels better. AND he even got a few bites of dry food. YAY! I got him a week ago yesterday and I have not been able to get him to eat consistently & he wouldnt eat any dry food. This is an improvement! I feel so much better! Last edited by BaxtersMommy; 09-28-2009 at 07:27 PM. |
