| Doggie cold? Today is Nahla's first day with us! We drove down to GA yesterday to pick her up and right back home - it was 23 hours total. I imagine this caused some amount of unavoidable stress for her, but she seemed to do just fine. She had a snuggle buddy in the crate (another puppy I was transporting), food, water, and Nutrical. She's a big girl, has a great appetite, and is drinking water. Buuut, she seems to be sniffling and sneezing. The best way to describe it is like that distinctive smoker's hacking (lol) - she'll do that 3-5 times and it will end with a sneeze-like sound. Can our babies get colds like us? My best guess is maybe she's adjusting from Florida's warm weather to our Maryland weather (it's warm here, but not as hot) - but I really don't have a clue. Does anyone know what's going on? Our vet is closed for the weekend but I was planning to take her in Monday just for a check up & to get her in the system... I don't need to run to the emergency vet for this, right? She's energetic and doing great otherwise. Thanks in advance

| Piper makes hacking sounds from time to time, and I have no idea what it could be. I ususally stroke his throat until it stops. A lot of people say hold there nose covered and they'll be forced to breath normally again.

| Since you just got her, I wouldn't wait until Monday to take her to the vet. Sniffling, sneezing and coughing are something to be concerned about IMO, especially in a puppy that young. If you have other dogs, I'd also keep her isolated from them until you find out what it is. |

| i just went through something like this with my new puppy i took him to the 24 hour vet because i was very worried... after all the worrying and 150$ later i found out it was kennel cough. it sounds like a honking sound and they make this jester that looks like they are trying to "be sick". it is very contagious, they can sniff where another dog that has it sniffed and catch it |
