Donating YT 3000 Club Member | HELP!!!Drinking & Peeing like CRAZY!!! Bengi has been drinking too much this last few days. I don't know what's wrong. Then he "kills" the peepad in like an hour or two; I mean, it ends up soaked in pee, which is mostly colorless and odorless. He usually drinks after we get back from work, after 5. I don't know if it's stress or something else. He's acting normal, eating fine, palying and everything. He doesn't get up at night to drink or pee either. It's just between the time we get home and the time we go to sleep. I'll probably will be going to the vet next week for the annual exam, so I'll be taking a urine exam just in case. Do you think it's ok to wait till then or should I be worried???? |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Sometimes excessive drinking/peeing is a sign of diabetes, but don't get freaked by that bc that's not for sure. Has he been playing alot outside in the heat? It could just be thirst, or maybe he's fighting something. Does he have water available to him when you're gone during the day?

| We just went through this with our Aussie. She was draining the toliets and then she would just be laying there and peeing when she was asleep! Now, our Aussie's pee has alot more volume then our Yorkies pee so this was not good. We brought her to the vet, she did have a bladder infection but they also found a VERY high sugar content. She has diabetes and gets insulin 2X day and she seems to be doing better. She is still drinking to much water and "leaking" even when awake (she's only 8 so to early) so they gave her estrogen pills and will take them 2X week. I guess it's not uncomman for spayed female dogs to have this issue, especially when their bladders are so full. Our girl is feeling much better now after being on the treatments for 3 weeks, I hope your vet finds nothing wrong with your baby other than the weather. Once we get into the routine with the diabetes, this won't be the worst thing in the world either even though I was very nervous at first. I'm just glad our girl is getting back to her normal self and feels better...you can even see her eyes are back to sparkling! -Diana |

In dogs, not just drinking and peeing a lot is a sign of diabetes. A diabetic dog also don't eat as they drink too much to want to eat. Hot weather can confuse you as they don't eat as much usually and drink more which is likely what we should be doing ourselves. | |

| I had 2 cats with diabetes and, yes, drinking and peeing alot is a definite sign. But, so is the hot weather. I know I drink and pee alot more when it's really hot. So, I wouldn't stress - wait and see what the vet says. Hopefully, it's just the heat.
