| Rebel had surgery this morning I took him to the vet this morning for his luxating patellas. Left the house at 7:00 this am and got there @ 9:00 am. He was thoroughly checked out by the surgeon and had the surgery on his left leg @ 11:00. The vet came out at 12:15 and said Rebel was waking up fine and had licked his hand. He had torn ligaments in the left leg where he tried to climb up on a bed a week ago along with the luxated patella. Vet said the groove the patella is supposed to slide in was basically non-existent in his left leg so he repaired the ligaments, made the groove deeper and tightened the ligaments that hold the patella where it's supposed to be. He also said Reb's right leg patella is worse than the left, but because he was in pain from the torn ligaments it was better to do the left one today and when he heals from this, I will take him back for the right leg. I had to leave him overnight and when I got home a few minutes ago Lucy went nuts because she doesn't know where he is Please remember my little Reb in your prayers. I know he wants his Mommy

| I am so glad to hear everything worked out good. I am just curious, did they cut the bone and reposition and pin it back in place? I ask b/c my Roxy had bi-lateral LP surgery last August. The surgeon spoke of cut/pin, but when she actually went in for surgery, she felt Roxy would do ok only with deepening the groove and tightening the ligaments, etc... Well, at her six week check up, Roxy's right leg was re-luxating, so she had to have surgery again in Nov. but this time to do the cut and pin. That leg is now stabilized.... And now the left leg has started to luxate again So, in the fall, Roxy will have her 3rd surgery to repair the luxation. Last edited by TLC; 07-30-2007 at 12:09 PM. |

| Awe...I'll be praying for Rebel and sending hugs your way..and to his sissy. It sounds like you have a very knowledgeable and good vet so I'm hoping for you everything will turn out all right and Rebel will be a typical yorkie in no time at all!
