I ask b/c my Roxy had bi-lateral LP surgery last August. The surgeon spoke of cut/pin, but when she actually went in for surgery, she felt Roxy would do ok only with deepening the groove and tightening the ligaments, etc...
Well, at her six week check up, Roxy's right leg was re-luxating, so she had to have surgery again in Nov. but this time to do the cut and pin. That leg is now stabilized....
And now the left leg has started to luxate again So, in the fall, Roxy will have her 3rd surgery to repair the luxation. |

The vet said that sometimes he has to cut the bone and re-position, but that it's usually in dogs older than Rebel whose lower leg has turned trying to adjust to the patella being out of place. He showed me what he was talking about on a model. He said after the surgery that Reb's looked fine and he doesn't expect any further problems once he's healed from this.
Thanks for your concern,
Kim
