| Brea and surgery Well, the surgeon confirmed the Leggs-Perthes in my little Brea. It's her left hind leg. As soon as my regular vet calls me back we'll set the date. It has to be soon because her muscles are already atrophying. The surgeon was super nice - answered all my questions - even told me they were good ones! I made him blush a couple of times - it was sooo funny. I can just say it helps to go into something like that with some knowledge. Then you know what to ask, etc... Recovery time is 6-8 weeks. She won't be in cast and they want her up and moving as soon as she can. There will be pt type exercises to do. The surgeon will be coming up to my vet clinic to do the surgery. I asked the receptionist if they would want to keep Brea overnight and she said usually not... I told her that was good cause I wouldn't let them! I talked to the breeder but don't even want to go into that here... I'm exhausted. It was over 100 miles there and back and then I had to go to work for a bit. Let's just say I don't think I will be getting any help from her. |

| Teri -- It sounds like you have been through the ringer today. I am so very sorry that Brea has this problem -- but it sounds like you have educated yourself and are going into this with your eyes wide open and your heart aching. It goes without saying but here goes anyway... Please keep us posted. I will keep little Brea and you in my thoughts and prayers. Sinding hugs |

| So sorry to hear about little Brea but glad you got all your questions answered. That was a really long ride for both you and Brea!!!! When I was young, I couldn't eat when I was upset..........now that I'm older, it's feed the face when I'm upset. Hope things get better real soon!!! I've been thinking about you all day today.

| That stinks about the breeder not being helpful. She should really take responsibility for it since it's a genetic disease and Brea's only 6 months old. I'm sorry that she's being this way! Brea will be in our prayers!! She'll be okay, and once she makes a full recover, she will be better than ever

I made the ride longer by getting lost on the way there.

The surgeon was very optimistic about her complete recovery. Her leg will be a teeny tiny bit shorter that the other but he said I probably won't even notice. My H just asked me if she is worth it. (all the money) DUH!!!!
