Well, the surgeon confirmed the Leggs-Perthes in my little Brea. It's her left hind leg. As soon as my regular vet calls me back we'll set the date. It has to be soon because her muscles are already atrophying.
The surgeon was super nice - answered all my questions - even told me they were good ones! I made him blush a couple of times - it was sooo funny.
I can just say it helps to go into something like that with some knowledge. Then you know what to ask, etc...
Recovery time is 6-8 weeks. She won't be in cast and they want her up and moving as soon as she can. There will be pt type exercises to do. The surgeon will be coming up to my vet clinic to do the surgery. I asked the receptionist if they would want to keep Brea overnight and she said usually not... I told her that was good cause I wouldn't let them!
I talked to the breeder but don't even want to go into that here... I'm exhausted. It was over 100 miles there and back and then I had to go to work for a bit. Let's just say I don't think I will be getting any help from her.
