| Romeo's allergies....any advice?! My 3 year old yorkie, Romeo, is very active and happy. He chews on his paws alot, which means he probably has allergies. Recently within the past few days, he's been acting weird about his right ear. He scratches at it (he doesn't have fleas), and after he scratches, he shakes his head for a second, and wabbles for a sec then is fine, till he later scratches again and it starts all over. We thought maybe a bug or something had crawled down in his ear, but we don't see anything. His ear is red now, though probably from the scratching. We suspect maybe it's also allergies, but I'm not sure. Anyone else have this happen to their yorkies? We plan on taking him to the vet this week, he's on vacation this weekend with my parents, (they try to take the grandpuppy everywhere!). Any tips for what to do now to help? Thanks!! Shannon |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I would suspect an ear infection. I would try and get him to the vet as soon as possible. They can check it and give drops to clear it up. Poor baby, ear aches are no fun.

| Yes definitely have the vet check it out. Gracie has such bad allergies that instead of an ear infection she actually got a yeast infection in her ears ( it smelled awful). Feel Better Romeo

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | the paws and the ears may or may not be associated together. Dogs can lick their paws because of allergies, but they can also do it out of habit, or they can be obsessive compulsive. But since you mentioned his ears are itchy too, i'm thinking its more allergy related. I'd take him to the vet this week and get them both checked out. he could have a simple ear infection or if its really smelly its more likely a yeast infection.
