Gas problems My little baby has refused to eat in the morning. Everything was fine yesterday and she does not seem lethargic or sick today at all. Her stool yesterday was fine, nice and firm, sorry for the details. She also had no vomiting or anything like that. Her tummy, however, feels a little firm to me and I hear loud growls coming out of it. So, I assumed she has gas. To alleviate her discomfort, I decided to get "Gripe Water" for babies. It's an organic, natural remedy given to newborns mostly in Europe but it is getting a wider appeal here as well. There is no chemicals and no artificial flavors inside. It's safe to give to even the youngest of babies. So, I assumed it is not going to be bad for sure. I was just wondering if anybody else tried Gripe Water or infant gas drops on their fur babies and if it helped with gas. Additional question, I feed her Artemis dry kibble for small breed puppies and I mix in Artemis canned beef wood for all stages. I am not concerned about the quality of the brand since I haven't had problems with it before. What I do feel could have caused the gas is my storing the canned food in the can for longer than I was supposed to. I had no experience using canned food before. My dogs used to only eat dry kibble. This one has been accustomed to eating wet food. So, she refused to eat dry food at all. However, once I switched to Artemis, she started eating it but only if it is mixed with wet wood. I only used a tiny amount of wet food, just to fool her with the smell of it. I mostly wanted her to eat dry food. So, one can could have lasted me a long time. I have the question for those of you who use canned food. How long do you store it in the refrigerator for. Also, do you store it in the can or do you transfer it to plastic container or bag? Thank you in advance.

Hello again . . . . I really don't know much about GAS but I do feed both my babies dry kibble coated with wet food so As soon as I open the can, I store the rest in my fridge. About almost a week before they are all consumed because I just give them enough to coat the kibble. I have Tiger and Annika sharing the same can . . . without the wetfood, they don't devour their food so I know I have to have something tasty to coat them. I have never had a problem of spoilage but do have to move it out of the can into a plastic container.

Thank you for your reply. I gave her "Gripe Water" and she is eating very well now. I threw out the can and bought plastic bags designed to store breast milk for storage of my extra wet food out of the can. So, for now on, I will devide the can into portions and store each portion in its individual storage bag frozen. I will defrost her daily portion in the morning and store it in the refrigerator, not freezer for her to eat. The rest will be frozen until used. Gripe Water worked great on gas. I am happy.
