| ultrasound Hi All.... GiGi collapsed on Friday morning...rushed her to the Vet...took blood work and x-rays. We found she has some sort of lump on her stomach or kidneys...could be inside or attached to the outside of the organ. I now have to take her to a specialist that does ultrasound on dogs. The Vet recommended one but his hours are difficult and I will have to loose a days pay (during my busy season....and of course if there is no other option I will) and I am not sure I will like him. Does anyone know a specialist in New Jersey (northeast)..maybe I can get one that is a little more flexible with hours. So far I will be paying $700.00 for him to look at her stomach and heart (which is enlarged but has been since she is at least 4years old, as far as I know). Don't want to wait too long to get her to a specialist... she is doing fine now...good sprits and eating well (but aren't they always). Thanks for your help if anyone knows of a doctor they would recommend. Tina

| I know....I am afraid to go to someone who is not experienced. I am leaning towards using the Vet my Vet recommended.

You can not do much better than a reputable vet school! The best equipment, most up to date equipment, best instructors and professors, etc.... I really do my own research and often will select people that I personally have researched....I have seen "you scratch my back and I will scratch yours" friendships among doctors and vets, often not the best selections to have been relied on....I like to get my OWN second opinions, from people that I have researched myself...and long before specialists in vet medicine came into existence, I was beating a path to A&M vet school for treating my pets and my horses....cant do much better than a vet school and the staff there! They TEACH your vet everything he knows!!! Last edited by Yorkiemom1; 03-06-2016 at 05:56 PM. | |

| None that I can find. Rutgers has animal science and pre-vet, but sends all of their veterinary students out of state. The other two colleges listed are small colleges that probably just have vet tech programs. |
