| a lunp my 13 year old yorkie gas on his back area HI all, I am new to the site and hope I might find some answers..my yorkie coco is going to be 13 in march he has recently formed a blackish almost wart lump near his butt area..any ideas? I did have him at the vet and she gave me a I am not sure..which I didn't believe she was the owner and the surgeon how do you not know and tell me you have never seem it before that is what made me not trust what she was saying..this isn't my regular vet I was here due to our great dane stepping on coco's back leg and breaking it at the beginning of summer and having two plates and 6 screws in his lil back leg before this coco has been a trooper and very healthy only to the vet for his reg check ups.. but this injury has really taken its toll on him last week one of the screws started to back out and was coming through his skin..my heart broke the vet took that out then two days later the top plate started to come through the skin as well...this poor lil guy...I brought the lump up to her during the first vist she told me if she had to take out more of the plate she would remove the spot she never did..now I wonder did she not because its cancer???? I have to bring coco back dec 30th to have the stiches removed and plan on revisitng the lump...I have tried to research up with nothing..but what scares me is once he has the issue with screw backing out he has lost weight..and almost seems like he had a stroke..he is not himself...he is breaking my heart..anyone have a clue whats gong on? thank u in advance Kim |

| I'm afraid I can't help you either, but just wanted to say that my heart breaks for the pain your little guy is going through! I'm surprised that you considered a Great Dane and a Yorkie live together! Poor little guy! |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I am just trying to get the timeline straight. Did the lump appear before or after the leg break and surgery? But I don't like I am not sure unless accompanied by a referral to a dermatologist. I do so hope your little guy heals up. Have you started any nutritional supplementation? Weight loss is a tad concerning here. Oh don't worry too soon about cancer. You can get a biopsy done and see what the pathology report says.

| Our first baby, Abigail, had two such lumps-both near her rump. They were similar to ingrown whiskers that basically abscess. Doctor removed surgically, and antibiotic treatment. That's my only experience with lumps. |

| coco"s lil lump Thank u everyone for adding in...to amazing yorkies...I don't want you to think I allow my dane to hurt coco the yorkie, this is the fist time there has been a issue between them in the whole time they have been together which is coco's age of almost 13 years, I was sitting on the floor with the dane coco came around the sofa and I feel startled the dane..not making a excuse just trying to explain how it happened. To Gemy the lump was just pryor to the leg injury I pushed on it he doesn't move so I don't think its bothering him...he doesn't mess with it..this lil guy is a trooper, but I am concerned because since the removal of the plates he has lost weight and has become sluggish and out of it...his eyes have gotten a blue tone to them...do you think its possible he had a stroke? Thank u for any help Kim |

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | I am sorry just seeing your reply now. The blue cast to the eyes could be age related cataracts. In senior dogs a stroke is a possibility of course, but let the vet examine him and see what he thinks. I am a little worried more about infection from the surgery.... Has he been running a fever? What is his heart like? Did his bloodwork (recent) show any unusual results? Let us know what the vet says. Sure hope your boy starts to feel better soon.
