Blood in stools Hi. Baxter my 12 week old 5 lb furby got up this morning and did his job. Then 1/2 hour later did it again only a little mushy. Then 1/2 hour later, did it again a little mushier. The last time it had a lg drop of blood in it. So i called the vet and took a sample. Couldn't find anything wrong. Gave me an antibiotic and said to watch him and if any more blood call tonight or in morning. His stools samples were neg for cocsidia ao anything. He has had a bone he has been chewing on, made by nylabone. Vet said maybe take him off those to see if he was ingesting small pieces and that was irritating his system. I had watched and if any pieces they have been very, very small. Like nawing on them and shaving off particles. Has anyone else had this happen. Is it the bones or are we missing something?

Maybe his food? My little Gizmo who will be 6 mo's this Sunday also had very bad runny stool last night , but I think it is because he ate some of the cats food and it has salomon and other stuff and maybe it irritated his tummy.... so I gave him 1/2 a cc of pepto and 1/2 a cc of some medicine my vet gave me to clean his system. Hopefully he is better. I have him eating Wellness and he seems to like it... since he is so small 2 1/2 lbs at his age I have to be very careful. try to check his food.. Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks!

I am feeding him Nutro Brand Natural Choice Ultra Puppy. He hasn't been eating his dry food so i mix 1/2 t to 1 teaspoon of ceasers in it so he eats on a schedule. I also have given him 1 tea of cottage cheese every 2 days for calcium. Any problems with this?

Cttage Cheese is good for them, I have heard that Caesars is not good but everyone has different opinions. Ummm... was the blood kinda of watery? Have you tried giving him something for his upset stomach? Usually you can tell it is a upset tummy because their rear ends will pwehh pwehhh smell pretty strong. Maybe 1/2 cc of pepto ???? You can put him on bolied chicken and white rice for a bit and see if you notice a change, something is better than nothing for now.... and don't forget some nutrical!

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The blood was like a large drop in stool that was somewhat loose. Not diareaa not firm. They vet told me he could have has a hrd stool the hit something and made it bleed a bit. Just to watch and if any more call him tonight. He is acting fine, playing and active and ate well this morning. So I guess I will wait and see how things are this afternoon late and call him. Thanks for the help and where do you get the natro?(sp)
