Mina is a mystery Mina is a very well traveled pup. Many miles in the truck and staying in our trailer. We went camping (or as close as you get in a trailer) last weekend. We made the 4hr treck home, arrived Sunday evening, fed all 5 pups and an hour later there were three saucer sized puddles of vomit in my den floor,it was Mina. I was pretty sure that it was stress from what turned out to be a weekend of xpen time with frequent walks for the pups. My rule of thumb is 3 spells of vomit and we go to the vet so that is one. About an hour later Mina,Kenzie and I were falling asleep for the night,Mina started to gag,I jumped to the bathroom tile with her and she threw up 3 little puddles again. So that is two. The vomit was very wet, lite brown, not grainy, not mucusy. We all slept very well. When we got up this morning Mina ate, drank, pooped and peed normally, played chase in the backyard with Kenzie. Everyone ran and then came in for morning nap. While I was out my daughter called and said that Mina had thrown up again. She soaked it up with a white papertowel,by the time I got home there was a red halo on the outer edge, that is three and so we went to the vet. Noone else is sick and other than throwing up Mina is normal. No temp,no tummy pain,no refusal to eat. Really strange unless you want to call it to much of a weekend. The pups had to stay in the trailer almost all of the time because it was wet and cold. We were attending an event so one of us would break away every hour and go visit and walk the pups. No new food,no water from a strange place, all meals were given on time. Any ideas, suggestions? She got a shot of Cerenia at the vets, is taking a med twice a day to coat her tummy and an antibiotic. If this occurs again shortly after all of this is done,we will be doing blood work.

YT 3000 Club Member | im sorry this is happening, did the vet say to go do a bland diet for a few days, or some pepto bismol. I hope things are better soon, maybe the trip was too much for her for some reason |

maybe residual motion sickness? Kind of like being on a ship for a week and then you feel kind of off for a few days...

Mina is taking a med that coats the tummy and eatting chic n rice. I dont think that it is motion sickness. Two weeks before this short 4 hr drive,we did a 15 day trip to Albany,NY and back. Some days we did 450 mile, which is a very long day in a 3/4ton truck hauling a 38ft trailer. As for stress, yes it could of been because she is not used to being in the pen with the other dogs. Her highness prefers the safety of her crate. We didnt get our usual 30min rest together each day or our read time at bed time so her schedule was off. Today was better. She showed me a spot that I missed cleaning up last night, behind her crate. She sat there while I cleaned it off of the wood floor,as if to tell me that she was sorry for making a mess. She got a bath and a clean nitey so she is happy and ready for bed tonight.

I have no experience here, but wanted to chime in and say that I could see how being with the other dogs, which she isn't used to, might be upsetting to 'your highness'. Not sure though whether this would actually make her vomit. Others, with experience here, should be able to answer that one. I'm glad to have read that things are improving... and I hope they continue to!! They are such a worry sometimes. She's a lucky one to have you!!

When mine do this type of vomiting, like you I vet then I usually pull out the pedialyte for drinking, and even before I do the bland diet, I will do "gut rest", where intake is limitd to liquids, for 14 - 24 hours. After that, I start my bland diet, very slowly, small amounts, every 4 hours......slowly increasing meal size according to tolerance. Of course, you have to knw your "patient" and able to recognize any other symptoms that cause concern.

Thank you,she seems to be all better. She has gotten sick before due to "to much fun","to long of a day". She likes to go places but prefers her carseat and her crate. Some babies are just delicate little flowers.

Yep, did the no food thing and just liquids for 14hrs and then she threw up for the 3rd time. If they throw up 3 separate times in 24 hours,we go to the vet. I started to give her a cerenia tablet, but the vet was down the street and available. I have NO time for more stress in my life right now and I really like our vet.

When Kinder was about six months old she was throwing up a lot.Our vet kept her a couple days and found that she was allergic to chicken in your dogfood. We put her on a brand with whitefish and no more problems. It took a couple months to figure this one out but now she has been great for the last two and a half years.Hope your little one gets better soon. Susan
