| After surgery Empanads APL/LP surgery is in 3 days I'm freaking out running around trying to get the house ready for him. We bought a xpen and it didn't go very well. He was in it for about 5 minute and some how got out, looked at me like well mommy whatcha got next for me to try. I tried to put him in a crate he was all arms and legs straight out sideways like there is no way you are putting me in there. Now I'm thinking about the hallway connecting bathroom sink to bedroom that way he can see kitchen and bedroom (going to take off the door that has the shoes) so he wont feel alone. I'll put baby gate up make it a little off the floor so he cant jump over it. I was trying to put in him the front room but because we live in apartment he goes nuts when he hears the neighbors dog an wants to go play so that wont work. I'm just not sure if the room is to big its like 6x3 maybe. Do you think it will be ok? Anyone else have any ideas? Our apartment is 600sqft so not to big not very many places I can put him.

| I'm not sure, but I think they are supposed to be confined to a pretty small area and 6x3 may be too big. How about a baby playpen?

| I have tried a playpen before, when I was just tying to clean the carpets and he jumped out of that too. For a little guy he can jump high. I think I should put him in puppy olympics

Pet Gear Octagon Pet Pen with Removable Top in Sage What about something like above. It looks about like a playpen but has a removable top.

| Maybe you could get a baby gate to cut off about half of that space. They have very inexpensive ones at Walmart that you can put up quickly...they don't require nails or screws or anything...pressure mounted type. If that is carpet on the floor, that is good because he should not be on a slippery floor. Try to relax.....it's going to be ok!!

| I like that he has spunk! hehe I would recommend the above also..an xpen with cover or do the baby gate you were talking about but make the space smaller. Praying all goes well with the surgery!

| I put mine in a 33" diameter tent. It worked well, he liked it, and I was able to move it around the house. He freaked in a stroller. This is the tent I have Amazon.com: Leopard Skin Pet Tent Exercise Pen...

| Ok Empanadas surgery is in the morning I am trying to not freak out. I went and bough baby gates I made the space 3x3 so I think he will be ok. I put his bed, pee pee pads food and water in there so he will feel at home. I took a week off to be with him but I have to meet a few people for our wedding, I still need to decide cake and flowers this week. I'm wondering when will he be ok to be left alone in his little hallway space for about 2-3 hours? Or should I move everything to next week?

| I am sure he will be fine if you go out for a couple of hours! Just make sure he is medicated and has access to water and is safe and sound.

| Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers. I picked up Empanada at 7 he seems to be doing ok. I put him in his little space but he was crying an I felt bad so just for tonight hes in bed with me. We will try the space tomorrow. I notice he doesn't want to laydown is there anything I can do so he will laydown? He almost fell asleep standing up. Its going to be a very very very long night.

| Either put him in a carrier on the bed....or put a harness on him and a leash and tie him to you....just be sure he is in the middle of the bed and does not have enough leash to jump off.

| We survived the first night!! Didn't sleep much I never realized how hard the floor was until last night I have a mattress for camping was thinking about trying its about 5" but I think he might hurt his leg if he trys to get up on it. They gave him metacam for pain he's not crying as much today so I hope that's good sign hes not in to much pain. He starts to shake sometimes when he sits up so I keep telling him to lay down. He drank water this morning and ate baked chicken leg he wouldn't eat more then that so I hope its enough. I try to hold him but I'm not sure how. They put the stitches on the inside of his knee and he cant bend his leg. I can't hold him with my arms under him, between his legs because I will hurt his stitches. Hubby carries him like a football tucked under his arm, I tried that an almost dropped him hes heavy little guy. Anyone have an idea how I can hold him? I really don't know how I would get though this without everyone here
