Maybe you could get a baby gate to cut off about half of that space. They have very inexpensive ones at Walmart that you can put up quickly...they don't require nails or screws or anything...pressure mounted type. If that is carpet on the floor, that is good because he should not be on a slippery floor.

Try to relax.....it's going to be ok!!
