| Mandie is Throwing Up Hi guys, I'm at work right now and just got a call from my hubby who is at home. He said that about 2 or 3 hours ago, he caught Mandie with a paper towel that she was shredding. He didn't think she ate any of it but not sure. I mention it to see if you think it has anything to do with what's happening now. He said about an hour ago, Mandie threw up (white liquid/foam) about 3 times in succession. Then was "fine." (his words...not mine). He just called me back and they were outside and she was eating on some grass and then she started to throw up again while I was on the phone with him (this was like 5 mins ago). She threw up one time this time (so far) and it was the same white foamy color. I told him to go in and give her some pedialyte until I can get home in an hour and access her. I will obviously take her to the vet in the morning if she's still doing this (she hasn't pooped tonight yet so not sure how that is yet). I will take her to the ER vet if I feel it is even worse. But until then...any ideas? Do you think it was the paper towel (which wouldn't be much since hubby didn't even think she swallowed any) or do you think this is something else? Thanks

| Poor Mandie Sorry to hear of her plight. Pethaps she ate some of the paper and got some stuck in her throat and the irritation made her throw up. Usually foam is because her tummy is empty. Lets hope she will be ok and it is just due to the paper. Perhaps give her a biscuit to chew and that may dislodge the paper bits and also put some food in her empty tum? Good luck, hope she is ok. Obviously if she is not, then a vet visit is necessary. |

| Mine LOVE the Paper Towel Caper!!! God forbid they find on that my son has dropped from his lap as he eats....game on! That poor towel is shredded into thousands of pieces by the time I can chase one of them down and get the piece THEY have, from them! I really dont think it was the paper towel that made her tummy upset....unless she was to eat a paper towel that had cleaner of some knd on it.....especially since she wouldnt have had the chance to eat a large amount. Maybe she just has a bit of upset tummy....some nice chicken broth for dinner, nothing heavy for dinner....and if she is still sick tomorrow, then a vet visit would be appropriate. |

| Thanks so much guys! I tend to wig out about her...especially when I'm not actually here to see what's going on. It's been almost 2 hours now and no more throwing up and now that i see the spots where she threw up the first couple of times, it was not a lot or anything. I think you're right..probably just an upset tummy. Light meal for her tonight. And, I'll keep an eye on things. Still waiting to make sure her poo is okay.

| I wouldn't think a bit of paper towel would do anything... but I guess you never know. Jax has definitely eaten a bit of paper towel before with no issues. People can even eat a little bit of paper w/ no issues (remember those candies that are stuck to paper? God, I probably ingested sooo much paper, LOL, I never totally peeled them off as a kid). But I know how worrisome it is when they throw up. Sometimes dogs just do though. I think if it occurred anymore, I'd get to the vet, but at this point -- just keep an eye, keep her hydrated, and watch for any signs of lethargy, etc.

| Paper I wasn't suggesting the paper was toxic, just bits in her throat that irritated. Sometimes this human eats nuts etc and small bits get in the throat and make me cough and have to drink water to clear it. Dogs do not have the sense to drink to clear up throat issues and sometimes the gag reflex takes over. Of course it could be a more serious issue and if so has to be diagnosed and treated by a vet. But the mom now says the dog is ok and the throw up was minimal, so hope it is over and no big deal. I know I used to go nuts if my dog threw up and take to the vet pronto. Only to have the poor dog subjected to many tests etc for no purpose. We have to be watchful but reasonable. Anyway, only my humble opinion and I pray that Mandie is soon over what ailed her. |

| Hope she is feeling better, if she was throwing up foam, as others have said it is an empty stomach she is being sick on. She could have a sickness bug, but it could just be from being really hungry alone that's making be sick. Light, bland meals such as chicken or white fish and rice are good for upset tummies. |

| Okay - 4:15 a.m. (almost exactly 12 hours from the first time) and she woke us up throwing up again. She walked around while she did it but it was about a total of 4 heaves and throws. The first couple were white and foamy (and the first one had a big piece of grass in two pieces in it). The rest of them were clear like water. And, for her size, it wasn't just a little drop or two each time...pretty decent little puddles I got up with a paper towel. Ugh...she ate decent last night and played well. The only thing that is different is that she still hasn't pooped since I got home last night at 6:30pm. Hubby says he didn't see her poop yesterday afternoon...but he isn't always super observant on the pee/poop outside. 95% of the time, she always poops when I get home after work and first thing in the morning when I take her out. I'm concerned about that. If she doesn't poop at her normal time this morning and/or she throws up again, I'm taking her into my vet before work. She laid down right now..back with daddy cuz she's daddy's girl lol...while mommy is the one up after no sleep worrying. Typical *sigh*

| Thanks, Tena and everyone! She just pooped and it was normal. I'm going into work now but hubby is under strict instructions to give her chicken and rice for food and to go the the vet if she throws up again (and to call me if she does anything different than normal). Well...off I go.

| Yeah, she's off to the vet right now. Please send up a prayer for my baby girl. Hubby called me at work and said she threw up again and is shaking really bad. I HATE being stuck at work during this!!!! Please say a prayer for me, too...I need God's help to stay calm and not wig out. Thanks so much!!

| Maudie Don't worry, she will be taken care of at the vet's. I apologize for suggesting it was only the paper and hope it did not deter you from seeking vet advice sooner. We pray she will be well soon, it is so distressing to have our babies sick. You will be more stressed as you are not with her. Hugs and prayers. |
