| Tresaderm For Ear Infection Wondering if anybody is familiar with Tresaderm for ear infection?? Riley had an allergic reaction to something a week ago, Sunday. I took him to the Vet that Monday morning. He was all Pink Vet thinks it was environmental and something he possibly Walked Over. He also had a slight infection in both ears, and she said that may have also been related to his allergic reaction. She did a Cystology and gave me Tresaderm...said to give him 2 - 3 drops twice daily. I had to wrap him in a towel to administer.... Today is day "8". His last drops are supposed to be Wednesday night. I went home at lunch and looked down his ears.... They look a little pink inside and it looks like there are little teeny white pimples. Shouldn't it be totally cleared up by now?? |

| I have used Tresaderm in the past for ear infections in my Bogie. If I remember correctly we did 6 drops once a day for 7 days then took 7 days off , then 6 drops once a day for another 7 days. He never had any pimples or pinkness inside his ear though.

I am wondering if maybe it is a reaction to the Tresaderm. I am thinking if it is that way when I get home, I will run him by the Vet's office... They are only a few blocks from me. | |

| So I walked Riley over to the Vet, yesterday morning....around 7:30am since they are only a few blocks away..... - None of the doctors were in, yet and they made me make an appt. for 4:30pm. They said they would keep him there to monitor him, all day if I wanted. He wasn't "THAT" bad off....so I took him home and got him all comfy and settled at home. I left work at 3:15 to go get him and take him in. As Always the girls MAAAJORLY eewwww & ahhhh'd over him!! The vet said although rare, some dogs do have a reaction to Tresaderm and she thinks that that is what was going on. [His ears were definitely RED with Little Pusstials (sp?!) She said the redness should go away pretty quickly since I hadn't given him drops since Monday Night. They took him to the back to flush and clean his ears out, again.... And then she gave me Clavamox/oral antibiotic... and told me to go to CVS and get some Pepsid AC for his tummy.....[He had gotten sick Mon. night.....] and that she would continue the Benadryl for about another week. This morning, he already didn't shake his head once, and he was much more playful.......I think just from no more Tresaderm and the ear cleaning. I WAS SOOOOOOO HAPPY TO SEE HIM MORE HIMSELF!!!!! HE IS SUUUUUCH A SWEETIE PIE!!!! =) =) He weighed in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces. |

| Ohhhhhh And they want to see him back in in about a week just for a check-up. The vet we saw, yesterday, isn't going to be there, next week, but the vet he always sees.... [who was out, yesterday] will be in next Thursday... Which is his BIRTHDAY!! We made an appt. for that day. |

| So glad he's feeling better... I've never had much luck with Tresaderm, and my pets seem to dislike it immensely, and I've never had it clear any problem completely.

| Very interesting. Glad Riley is feeling better. Cooper had Tresaderm, I believe for ear mites and it healed up quickly and completely with no side effects.

| Glad Riley is doing better. It was last year when we used Tresaderm with Bogie and I remember hating it because it made the hair under his ears a mess. I am glad the oral antibiotics are working. It is horrible when our little ones are under the weather.

I'm so glad he is already seeing improvement after stopping the Tresaderm. Vets have ear ointments too, but they're a pain...the entire head eventually turns into a glop of grease.
