| Liver Shunt Baby My baby has a liver shunt. The cost is way more than i can afford. I sure didn't count on a 3,000 dolllar surgery when i budget for a puppy. Is there organizations out there that will help with the cost of this surgery. I love him so much i can't stand the thought of him dying but as a single mom of 4 kids surgery just isn't in the cards for us. Any suggestions.? If anyone has any ideas....Iwould love to hear from you. Thanks for thinking on it. Gus is my little mans name. HE is 3#14oz 10mo old yorkie. He is fiesty and loves to give yorkie kisses. Elizabeth |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I am so sorry. I don't know of any places that will help but others on here may. There is a credit card called Care Credit that you can apply for and if approved get a line of credit at many vets. It is usually interest free for a 12 months. I hope you can get some help.

| my heart is broken Yes I am so sad. I cry at night just thinking about him not being there to meet me at the door with those crazy yorkie kisses. He jumps from the 6-7 stair and into my arms as the door opens. I so love the little man. He is glued to my hip .... I love him |

| I am so sorry. Did you speak to his breeder? Will they help out with anything? I hope you find the help you need in one of the things posted. Please remember too that if it is impossible to still do the surgery that rescues may take him too and fix him up. You would have to give him up though I sure hope you find something that works out for you and your baby!!

| Did you get a health guarantee? A reputable breeder usually gives a health guarantee of at least one year for congenital or hereditary conditions. Some states have "puppy lemon laws" that protect the consumer, too. I can check for you if you let us know what state you live in. The University of Tennessee is one of the best vet schools in the country for liver shunt surgery and much less expensive than private practice vets. |

I'm sorry to hear about Gus and the problems you both face. I worry for Gus's fate since you said it is not in the cards for your family to provide him with possibly life-saving surgery. I hope that you will be able to find a way to finance the costs for him. Best wishes.

| I'm so sorry you are going through this. We just went through the same thing with our little guy. He had liver shunt and bladder surgery to remove a stone last Thursday. It cost us $3000 but we were able to get the breeder to pay half. I also looked into the Care Credit but our vet didnt accept it. Where are you from? I know in NJ its a law that you can get the breeder to pay up to twice what you paid for the dog even if you sign anything that says they aren't responsible if you find out that they have a birth defect within six months of owning the dog. |

| I bought my puppy in Missouri. The lady wanted to replace him with another puppy from the next litter but wanted me to return Gus. I can't return him. If he is going to die he needs to die here with us. Thanks for all the great advice. I will research all those links. |
