| Puking, Diarrhea, and Blood My lil 3lb Giavanna is sick. She is up to date on all of her shots. She hasn't been hurt or fallen. She hasn't ate anything she hasn't supposed too. I did notice a bump on her over a week ago by her left shoulder so I separated the hair and it looked like it was a bite.. over and over. It was swollen and I've been watching it and informed the vet of it. The swelling of it is almost gone. On Wednesday she puked yellow bile looking stuff.. twice. Then she was shivering so my husband and I cuddled her all night. She really didn't eat much. I gave her some chicken breast. On Thursday(yesterday) she seemed herself again and was eating and drinking her new food that I switched about 2 weeks ago now, and it is Orijen. I gave her a few little bites of some pizza. Later, around midnight which would be Friday she had diarrhea and now she keeps having it and I noticed some blood in it. Not a lot, very little. I washed her little bum and then gave her some pepto about 3ml's because I wasn't sure if she'd spit it out. She took it fine and now she is snuggling with my husband and I. I am pregnant and I have an appt. this morning. I could go into labor at any second and I am scared because I won't leave her. I don't want this baby to come yet! I am calling the vet when they open. Does anyone have any advice though? I don't have the cash to go to the vet and we don't have credit for CARE credit. Later when I come home I am going to make her some hamburger and rice. Thanks in Advance!!!

Blood in stool can be caused by many things. Stress, Giardia, etc. The only way you can find out what is at the bottom of it and to treat it is to get her to the vet. At 3 pounds, I just wouldn't take chances. Diarreah leads to deydration very quickly.

Excellent advice. Mary, does the chicken have to be steamed or can it be boiled? Never give these little ones fatty foods like hamburger, pizza, ham, etc. It can lead to serious problems for them - their systems just can't handle it. How quickyl did you change her food over to Orijen? You have to make the change slowly and gradually to avoid upsetting their tummies. Was she doing alright on her old food? You might ask the vet about switching her food back and seeing if it makes her feel better. If so, then you can try the slow gradual switch back to Orijen once she's feeling better again.

| Diagnosis... Took her to the vet and she doesn't have a parasite. Wayyyy too stressful not to take her to the vet.. I can't worry myself about not taking proper care of my girls! Soooo after spending $150 dollars(that we don't have, btw) they put her on 3 meds and they gave her a shot. Not sure what is wrong with her but the meds will clear up anything that could be the problem. Oh plus I had them cut down her nails because she needed it.. it's been 2 months. We came home and told my neighbor just in case her dogs have it too and she said she has seen diarrhea since last week which means she got it from the neighbors dog since we spent the holiday weekend with them.... WTF! Don't you know if your dog has diarrhea it means something and you just let me infect my dog by insisting I bring my cuties over!!! Also we found out the stupid neighbor put weed killer on the fence line where Gia runs and occasionally chews the grass when I am not looking! AND they never told us! I am beyond pissed off! I called the vet and told them about the weed killer just now and they said if these meds don't make her better to come back in to have them check her blood and to make sure her liver and kidneys aren't failing!!!!! I could seriously scream! I'm sure it would only take a small amount of that weed killer to make her sick. She runs the fence line(licks her paws), Chews the grass there(when I am not yelling at her to stop eating grass... I never let her out alone though..EVER), and she pulls the fence with her teeth like tug a war and barks at the neighbors dog(the weed killer is on the fence too I am sure)! I told them next time they spray weed killer on our fence and grass please tell us so we can keep our babies away from it! My husband is so pissed he said the girls aren't going outside anymore and they are just going for walks on leashes. Thanks for all the advice ladies

Daisy got sick one winter with the flu and we went back and forth to the vet for about 2 weeks. We thought we would save money by getting her shots done a pet co and there were so many dogs there she must of picked up something bc about 3 days later she started throwing up and diarrhea. What the Vet told me was to make sure she drank even if I had to get chicken broth in her water to make her drink. I bought organic low sodium chicken broth and mixed it with water and offered it to her every 3hrs round the clock and then I boiled boneless chicken breast and white rice and kept her on that for about 4 days until her stools firmed up. Hope your little one feels better soon.
