| Yorkie not eating after being neutered... OK...Rucker was neutered yesterday. I brought him home and he ate a treat after going potty yesterday afternoon late, but he won't eat his dog food. He will only sniff at it. It has almost been 24 hrs since his surgery. When can I expect him to be eating again? Also, his shivering was SO BAD last night! I wanted to get up and post but was afraid to leave him. He finally stopped shivering/shaking about 4 hours ago, so I take that as a good sign. Was that an effect of the anesthesia? I feel so sorry for the little guy cause all he wants to do is sleep!

| Every pup reacts differently to surgery and/or anesthesia. Sometimes after anesthesia their body temperature control is out of whack. You can put a t-shirt or sweater on him to help that. If he is sleeping, put a blanket over him. Make sure he is drinking water so that he does not become dehydrated. I would not worry so much about food for right now. Just let him sleep this morning....chances are by this afternoon he may be feeling better. If this continues, you should call your vet.

| When ever Milo has had surgery my Vet has put him on a bland diet afterwards of boiled chicken and rice, starting with very small amounts. If there are no food allergies involved boil a piece of chicken no skin or bones and mix with plain cooked white rice. |

| Our Vet recommended the same food. I boiled the chicken breast and then used the water to make the rice. |

| Oh, yes, you can't go wrong with chicken & rice if he's not eating. His lil tummy may be a little upset from not eating for so long, so perhaps something like that would get him going again.
