| giardia and bloody stools My maddie is being treated for giardia, we are day 6 of a 7 day treatment, she still has blood in her still loose stools, is this normal? I have only had her home for 9 days, i notified by breeder via email about her diagnosis and she said that stress from the 4hr drive home and being in a new home has made this worse. |

| Your breeder is correct that the stress of the new environment can definitely make giardia worse. I also would like to know what meds the vet has her on? I have found Metronidazole (in a liquid form) worked best for us. Make sure you are thoroughly disinfecting everything she comes in contact with on a regular basis with a bleach solution. You also need to be regularly cleaning her bum with baby wipes and washing your hands.

| your doin perfect by keeping her n the bathroom and cleaning with bleach but it is my concern that she is still so sick after 6 days...when bailee was on it,she immediately stopped with the diarhea, although when we stopped the meds it came back and we had to do round two...also she never had blood in hers...i think i would get another vet check...somethings doenst seem right

| My baby had that when she was a puppy. i don't remember what she was on. but i seem to remember my vet telling me that some strains of it are harder to get cure than others. |
