The weather has been finally nice enough to get outside and take the dogs (and kids
) to the local park for walks. After a long weekend stuck in the house because of the rain, yesterday afternoon once it cleared up we decided to take the all of the kids for a walk. We walked less than an hour and stopped at the beach so the kids could explore and I noticed that poor little Tucker's pads were all red and irrated.
It didnt seem to bother him, he wanted to keep going and actually got mad when I didnt put him down
. I carried him to the van and we left. This morning when I took him out to potty they were clearly bothering him. He wouldnt walk much and kept lifting his front paw up. I checked it again and it was even redder than it was yesterday, not bloody or tore anywhere but clearly irrated.
Im pretty sure he spent alot of time last night licking them. Anyways I spoke with the vet this morning and she said that there really wasnt much I could do, other than putting some neosporin type cream on them, but he would probably just licked it off. He will probably be sore for a couple of days.
Any advice?? Do yorkies typically have sensitive pads?
I feel so bad,
I really didnt think we were gone that long. He gets so excited when we go for walks, we are just going to have to make them shorter..
my poor baby..
