| Yorkie sick with diarreha and walking funny Hello, I am an avid yorkie lover with 3 yorkies. My girl yorkie has been sick recently with diarreha, bloody runny stool and is now walking with a limp. I am very concerned and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what may be going on with her. Thanks for your help. |

| she needs to see the vet first think in the morning.. sounds like she has cholitis and needs meds to stop it. the walking funny is probably because she is in pain, like cramps... no fun for her. don't give her any food until the vet sees her UNLESS it will be hours before you can get her there. you could try a small amt. of Kopectate, maybe 1/4 teaspoon. the RX he will give her is basically the same thing. good luck, but get her SEEN!!!! | Thank you YorkieOwned5 Dear YorkieOwned5, Thank you so much for the quick response and for your advice. I think you may be right because she has been throwing up which when I searched for the definition of cholitis it said it was one of the symptoms along with the diarreha and walking funny. I will take her to the vet and let you know what happens. Thanks again Last edited by YorkieXx3; 03-17-2009 at 12:54 AM. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Sorry your baby is sick. My Cali has that recently and was diagnosed with HGE. She is doing better now but it is best to get it checked out to make sure what it is.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It could also be pancreatitis. Her leg could be referred abdominal pain. Will be watching for an update - I'm very glad you're taking her in.

| Dear Everyone, Thank you so much for all your help, support and advice. My Yorkie Buttons is 100% healed. She wasn't doing well for about 3-4 days and then my other Yorkies, Frasier and Niles started having the same problem. I took them to the vet and it turns out I was feeding them a doggy treat that was upsetting their stomach. I discontinued use and they are healthy again. I was surprised that a dog treat could do this so please be careful on what treats you give your babies. Thanks again for everyones concern! |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Bring her to the vet. Could be Lyme or just gastro issue, but they can draw labs and go from there. Don't wait, they can dehydrate rather quickly. Good Luck, and let us know. HUGS!!!!

| Happy to hear they are all doing well now...sometimes treats don't agree with their systems...glad you were able to pinpoint what was causing it.

| Dog Treat HI EVERYONE Sorry for the late response i'm a newbie at this and it still confuses me how to post replies. Well I don't want to give the treat a bad name. My boyfriend adopted her after my last fur baby pasted away. I have to admit that my girl yorkie Buttons been sickly ever since we adopted her. Due to pet store neglect, we were so appalled with this pet store. She was so sick her vet recommended we take her back and exchange her for a different yorkie, but I didn't have the heart to do so. I was already in love with her. We nursed her back to health but I noticed her stomach is very finicky with certain foods. So I don't know if this will affect your fur babies and It's wierd because I feed them this dog food made by the same people and they love it and they have no problems with it. They just have a problem with the new dog treat they recently came out with. I don't want to give them a bad name like i said before but just in case I don't want anyone else to go through what happened to my Yorkies. It's the "Beneful Snackin Slices." It has a lot of food coloring too and I noticed when they pooed it came out to the same color as the treat. "Green, bright red, orange, etc." It was disgusting. And then from there the problems began. The dog food Beneful i still feed them and it's a great dog food. But I don't recommend any of the treats they make. I hope this helps everyone. |
