| Trembling Mom to be! My Sasha is expecting a litter, we bred her around the beginning of last month; and I noticed that she slightly tremors when she is laying down. This is Sasha's third litter, and with each litter this happens. My Vet said that the pups are pulling calcium from her and causing her to have slight tremours. He adviced that I should give her more calcium. I am giving her extra sea calcium over her food, an extra vitamin, and cottage cheese mixed with her food. Has anyone experieced this and maybe offer any advice? Thanks in advance. Nikki |

I would suggest you have hand, a product called calsorb for post delivery or during delivery. It is a fast absorbing calcium supplement. You can purchase this at Revival Animal Health Products for Pet Professionals, Veterinarians and Pet Lovers it costs under 6.00 a tube. You don't want to over supplement calcium during pregnancy because that could cause post delivery eclampsia even more. Here's a couple of website that talks a bit about eclampsia and what to look out for: Eclampsia (Puerperal Tetany, Milk Fever, Hypocalcemia) in Dogs Canine Eclampsia... Hypocalcemia... Puerperal tetany... Milk Fever in Dogs .... Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia Eclampsia In The Dog, Milk Fever, Puperal Tetany, Hypocalcemia... At ThePetCenter.com Hopefully one of the more experienced breeders will respond to your question too.
