| Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Beatrice had her surgery on tuesady morning. We brought her in early and left her for the night. The surgery was very succesful, I was mistaken it was only one broken bone, the larger of the 2 in the right front leg, just above the wrist joint. They put a metal plate on the bone and attached it with 3 screws at the top and 2 screws at the bottom. He showed us the x-rays of it after surgery...wow ! I said it would be like doing surgery on a chicken wing, she weighs only 3.1 lbs, she'll be 1 on October 7th. They padded and bandaged her very well, underneath are the stiches. We have to bring her back 4 weeks from the date of the surgery to have the bandage removed and the stiches .At this time they will xray her again. Now she is on the morphine pils twice a day and the anti-inflamitory at night. The hardest thing now is keep her from running and jumping, basically trying to keep her quiet. She must be feeling better, because she wants to play and she hasn't slept much today, yesterday she slept pretty much all day. So basically I'm carrying her around as I do things and if I'm sitting down on the sofa or at the table she's on my lap, she's becoming quite clingy. Otherwise I put her in her xpen.I only leave the collar on her when we're both gone or at night when she's in her pen.So far she's been great about not licking or biting the bandage. I will post in another week to let you all know how she's doing....so far...so good ! |

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, Beatrice!! She is adorable! They are just too brave for their own good. My Marcel is 3.3 pounds or so - and we have stairs for our sofa and our bed - so that might be an option for the future for your brave little girly. I am glad she is on the mend. Please keep us updated - and good job on acting so quickly!! Give her some HUGS from us!

Ok..so you are telling me, that the only reason she is clingy, is because of her injury??? Is that the same reason you are carrying her around all day???..Are you telling me, that if she did not have that cute bandage with the pink butterfly, you would not be carrying her????..you are a bad, bad, Daddy, I'm going to have to send the puppy police to your house and have them bring that mistreated baby to my house... In a more serious note, if she wants to play and is not sleeping as much as yesterday is sign that she is on her way to recovery. How much longer do you need to keep her on pain meds? I'm really glad your little one is feeling better

| I went through a similar thing with my Scarlett last December. She was running outside and stepped in a small hole one of the other dogs had just dug. She fractured her elbow and had to have a pin put in. Believe me, the hardest thing is to keep them still while recovering. Scarlett had an 8 week recovery time, and it was a loonnnng 8 weeks. You really have to treat them like glass for the whole time. Best of luck to you all while Beatrice recovers. |

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | It looks like she is doing really well !! She is just so cute and you are good parents. I don't mean to belittle anything --- but why do I think dogs in casts are SO dang cute? It's terrible, but I DO!!

| Good to hear Beatrice is doing better. She has such a cute little face. These tiny ones think they are big dogs in little dogs' bodies. ![]()
