| vet visit Well,Monday i toke my baby to the vet.She was to be bathed and giving rabies. When i went back to get her to my surprise she had also been giving parvo which she had been given in June and a bordetella shot as well, needless to say she's been sick since that day.I toke her back today and vet says she has kennel cough but, none of her dogs have had kennel. She was put on meds free of charge i might add and was told nothin could be given to calm her down. Many have said benadryl will help but,how much? She's 4 lbs.She wasn't sick at all till Monday. The thing that bothers me the most is the vet wouldn't look me eye to eye. That to me was strange.Plz has anyone had this problem .Tell me what i CAN DO FOR MY BABY!!!!!!!!!! three shots for a 4 mounth baby not right i don't think.the pain she's felt is on real .What to do ? |

| I would call another Vet. and tell them what happen and what you can do for this baby. Maybe there is some kind of medicine that can reverse those shots. How horrible. I hope you sue them!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I'm so glad you were able to post this, I agree, I would find another vet if possible. It sounds like he had a vet tech do the work and someone screwed up. He knows this, and that's why he wasn't able to look you in the eyes. I'm not sure why you want to give the benadryl, it's usually for allergies, but maybe someone else has more information on this. How's her appetite?

| Sometimes the bordetella vaccination will actually cause the symptoms of bordetella. I hate when they give that to a puppy. My vet gave that to a pup we had placed years ago, the owners told him they would be boarding the dog ~ but that wasn't going to be until 4 months later!! The pup had to go thru 2 rounds of antibiotics to clear up what that vaccine had created for the pup. I had a nice long chat with my vet about it. Rabies is a hot shot and should be given as the only vaccination for that visit. I would be talking to another vet and I would file a complaint against this vet. I don't know what they could do as far as counteracting the vaccines. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |

| vet visit Sapphire been on meds for 24 hrs.I know it takes a while to work this morning she's sneezed more than the past few days.I hope this is only a sign she may be getting better the cough hasn't been going on for the past few hours.Still not sure but,i guess if she eats, and drink it's ok.She'll play a little then start sneezing and pant with mouth open.I can only hope this is working.Seems to me a lot of pups get this.I just feel the shot did it and know help with 2 others besides. She is sleeping now better than she was.Thank you for replays many have come to my page.I will keep posting here as to how she's doing.I will be taking her to new vet when this is over if not before.Vet's should go thru what these babys do then they'd understand more.Maybe |

| Glad to see this... I am glad you posted... every time i send a "baby" home i give a lecture and tons of recommendations: Specially about keeping your eye on the vaccination schedule. A lot of vets do not keep up with the new recommendations on vaccine schedule and yes, purina research sent the results of their experiment with giving vaccines just one at a time and so much apart. They observed hundreds of dogs of different breeds and the conclusion was that specially small and toy breeds had much less adverse and allergic reactions to the shots if given at least 3 weeks apart and one at a time . there was a time, few years ago when they thought it would be money and time saving to give all the shots together and the owner would save money and time at the vets. The lepto shot is known for having caused many problems and if it must be given, it should be given after 6 months of age. If it really does not need i do not give !!! The kennel cough shot can and in many cases will cause kennel cough on a tiny young puppy like yours... well... what is done is done.... you must now watch to make sure your baby is eating well and happy to keep immunity up and going. If signs of worsening your vet may give you some antibiotics: amoxilin, to PREVENT pneumonia, make sure you use a sweater on chilli days and nights for sure. expect it to last for a while and not freak out. If your baby is eating and drinking and happy and protected, you will be fine and she will be fine too , it just may take up to a few months for this cough to clear !!! Good luck and if i can help anyway feel free to contact, if you want to PM i can give you my number or you can give me yours and i can call you too. Keep us updated. XOXOX

| Sounding good so far. I know mommie's exhausted, but since mommie has a kid named Sapphire and she needs lots of care right now, I'm sure mommie doesn't mind. Take care...both of you!

| its a live virus they put into your pup, it will run it course. Its like takeing your child to the mall and he comes in contact with someone with a cold, he may get it but not as bad. I donot get this shot because there are 23 stranes of it and the shot or nasal only take care of three. Believe I know .I ran a commercial kennel for 15 yrs |
