| Franklin that is, not me. Just when we thought all was clear, something else happens! He was supposed to go to the vet on Monday for his vaccinations after getting over worms and coccidia. This morning he was really groggy and tired, but because I'm not home during the day, I just figured this was normal, sleepy Franklin behavior. After a while, he started making gagging noises. I tried to give him some water and food, but he wouldn't eat it. He began to seem REALLY lethargic. I thought maybe he was going into hypoglycemic shock because he hadn't eaten all day so I grabbed some honey (the best thing I could find) and rubbed in on his gums. He kept walking around, kinda dazed. He then started throwing up. His vomit was just clear and kind of foamy. This was when I really started to freak out. He started shaking and throwing up more and more. I called the closest emergency vet and brought him right away. They tested for Parvo, which immediately came back positive. Right now, he's staying at the clinic.. he'll be there for 2 nights. The vet gave him some vaccinations (for what, I'm not really sure) and he's hooked on IVs. They're also doing some blood work to see if anything else is wrong. I felt so bad leaving him there all alone. He just seemed so miserable. I left him his baby blanket and two toys. I miss my baby so much!! I cried nonstop the whole way home.I asked the vet where he thought Franklin could've contracted it and he said that there were a lot of possibilities. We think he may have gotten it from the breeder, although not necessarily the result of poor breeding practices. He told me that Parvo is a very resilient virus that can live almost anywhere for extended amounts of time. Also, vaccinating early doesn't necessarily prevent Parvo (obviously) as the maternal antibodies can reverse the vaccines. It's also likely that we tracked it in our our clothing or shoes. We haven't taken Franklin outside yet because he's not done with vaccinations but we do live in an apartment where MANY other dogs live and defecate. Anyway, it's not real hard to get so please please please be careful with your little ones, especially the puppies. I hope my little guy pulls through. I'm doing everything I can to not call the vet to check up on him. I've already done that twice. ![]()

| Hugs to Franklin. Poor baby just can't get well. I thought we had it bad because Chloe got Kennel cough FROM the vaccine. Parvo is def. worse. Hope he feels better soon. PS. I LOVE Franklin's name! So cute!

| So sorry to hear of Franklins illness. Please remember that Parvo is everywhere you and Franklin have touched and walked. The only way to get rid of it is to bleach everything. It can be in your home for over a year. I hate Parvo. Been there, done that. Prayers for a speedy recovery!!! |

| I'm sorry about this. Please find out what this vet "vaccinated" for. It is not normal (from what I have read) to do so when a dog is so sick. The immune system has to respond to those vaccines and is doing all it can to defeat the virus. Injections are one thing, vaccines are another. I don't think I'd be too happy unless they can give you a good reason...

| Nasty stuff that Parvo. I lost a puppy to it years ago and she too had contacted it at the breeders house because the very day I brought her home she vomit in the car and then in the house and finally bloody puddles and the odor was horrible. I had another dog who was over a year old and had already had her second Parvo booster but she still got a nasty dose of it. I do hope your baby pulls thru this and I don't blame you for worring like you are. Maybe you can just go visit your little one. I'm sure he would love to see you. Make sure you scrub EVERYTHING with some bleach and water. |

| We are sending prayers and well wishes your way. Call the vet if it will make you rest easier. It is so hard when our babies are away from us and are sick.
