| warning: dont read if you have a weak stomach or eating I am so worried about my Gizzie, i put her outside this morning to go potty and she got in her poop position and just walked around the yard for 10 minutes and couldnt go so i brought her back inside thinking maybe she was just cold and placed her on her wee pad and she just kept trying to go but couldnt so I put some gloves on and lifted her tail up and you could see it trying to come out her skin was stretched around it... it looked so painful so i tried to push the skin back so maybe it would come on out and as soon as i touched her it sounded like she said ooowwww in a low whiny voice I could see the tears in her eyes it broke my heart so i put her in the tub and ran some warm water over her little butt and it finally came out it was this hard, round poop that looked like a golf ball in size.. I am at work now and she is home all alone and i am so worried about her, i gave ker some Karo syrup before i left and I'm going after work to get some canned pumpkin, do you know of anything else that can help..

| she mostly eats dry food, royal canin, she does get some small treats sometimes from the table, last night my son was eating a piece of cheese and she climbed in his lap and took his cheese that little stinker so I'm thinking maybe that is what caused it it was the sharp cheddar kind, and a nice size piece i know i know about pancreitis, i dont give her stuff like that often if she gets table food its normally a little peanut butter with her sentinel or a small piece of ham for a treat or if she isnt feeling well I'll boil her some chicken breast and rice or boiled hamburger and rice but mostly just her dry dog food

| i was told not to give them the pumpkin pie filling, but just original canned pumpkin. I have also tried a little bit of warm 2% milk in a bowl...it seemed to work for mine. Just don't let them or put down a bunch of it, just enough to make them go. I also did the warm bath, and it seems to help...just make sure they get plenty of exercise....i have one little puppy right now who tends to sleep more than play, so i have gotten to make sure she gets up and moves around quite a bit...plus, make sure they get plenty of water. hope this helps! it's hard to see them straining and it does hurt. | I had to do the same thing with Rebel right after I got him. The warm water was the only thing I could think of to soften the stool that was trying to come out. Poor baby. Use regular canned pumpkin - not pie filling. I give Rebel a tea spoon full about once a week because he has a tendency to get constipated if I don't.

| this happened to my puppy about two weeks ago. He strained for about and hour and I was so histerical over it my husband thought that the dog was dead from the way I was crying. It turned out that I did not know that you are not supposed to give little puppies raw hide alot. So the vet sayed that his poop was very grity and hard to push out and put him on a bland diet. Emergancy over! Thank gosh!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor baby - she's sounds constipated When that happend to Chanel I would put her in a warm bath and gently spray warm water on her little butt - it helped loosen it and also the water seemed to help her feel better - if Gizzie had cheese - that's the culprit right there ...Cheese really can do a number on their tummies |

| I'd give her some of the pumpkin when you get home. Hopefully all that cheese is out of her, and she'll be just fine.

| So, how much canned pumpkin is the right amount? I noticed last night that Tatum was squatting and straining a little outside and it took forever for her to poop. She does this occasionally and I think it's because she sometimes gets into Stormie's dog food outside (which is different from hers). I see that someone mentioned a teaspoon a week keeps their's constipation-free. I don't want to do this too often but when I see her having problems, how much should I give her in one day to help her out? I certainly don't want to give her too much and then end up with diarrhea!
