Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | How often do you walk your dog? I walk Eddie at least once every day for at about 20 minutes, but a lot of the informational sites I've seen on Yorkies say they don't need a lot of exercise and can get enough around the house. I'm wondering what others think and do. A poll will follow, but be patient. I haven't figured out how to post both at the same time

| Since i am toby's "person" ... he is my responsibility, however, i usually get home after dark and it is not safe to walk at that time. I walk him to the mailbox and back (all the way across the complex)... and if i get home beofre dark we take a longer one |

| We live in a rural area, if I walked down the road with Tinkerbell, someone's loose dog would chase us down the road and eat us! We go to the park with my kids occasionally, but mostly we play fetch in the house and all the dogs chase after each other in the yard a lot during the day. |

| Teddy rarely walks out in public. He has been attacked twice by bigger dogs so I am more than paranoid with him. We do have a huge back yard though and he plays catch me if you can with the Labs so his exercize needs are being more than met.

| I try to walk Gus and our other dog once a day for about 45 minutes. It is their favorite thing to do. They go nuts when the time is approaching and I feel awful when I can't take them out - like when I'm sick or too busy. I wanted to add since I'm the one that plays with him (other dog has no interest in play) the walk is needed to get rid of some of his energy. I can only play fetch for so long and he is like the Energizer Bunny.

| Bailey goes on usually 2 walks a day, the one is just around the block,,BUT, if he sees me putting on my tennis shoes, he knows that we are going on a WALK-WALK!! And He is READY! He loves it,,, pees on EVERY tree... which can really make ya loose your momentum.... but the walks are for him not me. Isn't it strange how they KNOW certain things,, like tennis shoes,,, long walk.... and regular shoes,,just around the block.. and other endless things ,,, how do they know?? It always amazes me, how smart they are.

| I have tried to take Baby on walks with me, but she has a luxating patella in one of her legs, and as long as she does not get too over excited I don't have any problems with it. However, walks are too much excitement and I notice her limping, I don't want her to be in pain. Makes me sad though...so we excersize her a lot in the house.. |

| We only walk Reagan about once a week. I'm trying to get the motivation to walk more, but that's more for me than her. Mon-Tues she gets at least half and hour outside play time, Wed-Fri its more like and hour or more and on Sat-Sun we're outside 3/4ths of the day. Sometimes though if we've been outside all weekend then come Monday she's a little wound up from not being used to being inside all day. Other than that I think she's getting enough exercise, she doesn't seem to be bored or acting up or anything.

| I've always tried to walk mine at least once a day (sometimes more than once). This is a problem in the winter when it gets dark so early, but I always rush and manage one time or another unless the weather prevents it. I feel like I'm responsible for their health and it is quite true that exercise helps their organs to work. I believe it is also good for their psychological health and outlook. It helps to make for a happier doggie.
