| New addition-and the Yorkies HATE him! My daughter was given a baby chihuahua for an early Christmas gift by her grandma yesterday, and my babies hate him! Lindsay promptly ran to my daughter's room and peed on her carpet. She is very hurt and won't come near me. Poli thinks he is some kind of toy and chases him around. Any ideas on how to acclimate them? This pup is a screamer-I had to sleep with it last night because it screamed holy terror being in a crate. Of course, the babies couldn't come to bed with me then. It is really making the Yorkies upset. My daughter is only 7 so I have to do most of the training before she can really take care of him.

| Boy these little dogs really get funny don't they. I could only say that they are showing this new pup it is not his territory. I'm sure with a little time everything will be fine, it's just that they don't know him right now, and it is funny how the dog went into her room and peed! Little stinker!! |

| Shana-I have never had a Chihuahua...I really need some advice. He cries NONSTOP unless someone is holding him. I have tried everything from turning on the radio to putting him on my bed next to me while I work (I work on the computer). He even cries then. I don't know what to do. Did you or anyone else ever have this problem? I am literally going insane! I feel so sorry for the little guy, but I cannot hold him 24/7.

| This is not encouraging...I wanted to get Bruce a brother or a sister in the spring, but I am afraid it will upset him too much now Is this typical of the yorkies? I am planning to get another yorkie (or maybe a havanese but probably a yorkie), will this make a difference?

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | That IS a dilema - I hope things get better - I know yorkies are almost worse than kids when it comes to being jealous Hope things get better and I wish I had advise but I don't...only this - I would try NOT to disturb your yorkies sleeping habits...if they're used to sleeping with you - I would let them if you can ...it may cause more jealousy ....GOOD LUCK !!! |

| Hope things improve for you soon. I have a soft-sided carrier that I put one of my smallest yorkies into at night and place it next to me on the bed. But of course if Daddy is in bed too, it may get a bit crowded with all three kidz there. Have you tried wrapping a clock that ticks and placing next to the new baby? Also a warm water bottle wrapped and placed into the bed may help. Gee, I hope you get some relief soon. Keep us informed as to your progress. The yorkies will soon accept the new one, they probably need to smell his rear a few times, seems that's how they identify eachother. Good luck with potty training. Merry Christmas & Happy Holiday! | It takes time! I have had Petey for over two months now and even through Bell tolerates him, she is no were near what I had expected from her.. WHen he goes near her she gives him the teeth or just gets up and moves. It is getting a bit better as time goes by (as I saw them actually laying down near one another the other day) but we have a long way to go. Good luck, just remember it takes time!

No matters the breed you choose . You change the life style of a dog when you bring another one at home , so there will be adjusting time . | |
