| Some people dont need animals Some people really piss me off. My "friend" at work decided she wanted an inside dog after her divorce. I said, Friend, are you sure? They are a lot of work. It takes a lot of patience to potty train. Puppies dont understand all the screaming or spanking. You have to be home, You have to be consistent. I preached and preached and PREACHED to her. She didnt need a furbaby. I knew she wouldnt take care of it but she didnt listen to me. She got one. She has had it for LESS than two months and is done with it. She cannot get him potty trained. He is a dapple wienie dog. Cutest lil thing. She announces this today at lunch. Grr she makes me so mad. So I left the table bc just irritate and found him a good home! One of the ladies on the other Team loves wienie dogs so she is taking him to a good home --- one that has patience and understanding for a 5 month old lil furbaby. There is another lady at work, she gets them while they are puppies then wants to get rid of them. I have one of her poodles, my SIL with the other. She just now got a Yorkie, Carter, so I continuously ask when he is going to come live with me. Ugh ok this is long .. sorry but it just pisses me off sometimes. I know everyone isnt as extreme with their animals as I am and thats ok. BUT I also strongly believe that the ANIMAL didnt choose you, you chose the animal so it is your responsibility to take care of him.

| When you choose to bring a dog into your life, it should be for the life of the dog!

| I know what you mean. Some people like the IDEA of a pet and don't realize how hard and time consuming they can be. Case in point, both my parents. My dad likes hunting dogs but can't realize that if you bring a dog inside that yes, it's going to shed and no, just because it's been outside a lot does not mean it's housebroken. He doesn't understand a dog is basically a toddler and doesn't always know the rules. Dogs can be messy when eating or drinking water and do track in dirt if you take them outside and bring them back in. My mother likes the idea of a big dog but after they're not puppies anymore she can't control a large dog so she gets rid of it then months later buys another puppy I don't understand people who think animals are disposable and you can just take them to the pound and get another one when you want one! Or the stupid people who don't fix a cat, have a bunch of litters and then take those to the pound(repeat, repeat, repeat). Seriously, I wish there was some kind of way to limit unresponsible pet owners. Like a data base you could search and say "um, no ma'am, it says here you've had 10 dogs in the past five years and own none of those same dogs now... so NO, you can't get a new one!"

| My son lab was an inside dog for 2 yrs. When he had to go overseas we took her to live with us, we live in the country with a creek, Millie has no desire to come in now, she would rather be out running the pastures or laying in the creek, she has the options of both and I think in the last year she been in the house one time, |

| It's kind of like some people should not be allowed to have children. They're all ooey-gooey when they're babies and then when they grow up, they just give up on them. Just keep your door open for all of those babies when they need a new home. At least you have enough sense to make sure they go to someone who will love them and do what's right. Thank God he put you close to her so you're able to help. Send 'em on down my way. Mine are so spoiled it's silly. It's so much fun being the little old lady with yorkies! |

| People are "in love" with the idea of having a pet, which also sounds like the people who get married for the wedding and get divorced a year later. She needs to stop, I wonder if the human society can do anything to help you since this is a repeat problem. |

| Twalla, I can understand your frustration. Suggest that this person get a pet rock - very low maintenance and when you get tired of them you can toss them out the door and pick up another off the side of the road. |

If they can't learn how to keep it alive, they shouldn't get a puppy. By the way, I have the most prolific and beautiful orchid, people always think it's fake. During it's last bloom cycle it had 20 full blooms at once! | |

| I think there are some legitimate reasons an animal may need to be rehomed, but they are few and far between - major family illness, allergies that cannot be controlled, financial issues (not buying tons of stuff and then realizing you can't afford your pets, but unexpected or major situations). But in those cases it is the responsibility of the pet owner to find and screen new homes for their pets to make sure it is the best possible home life for them. I don't get people that just "don't want" their pets anymore, I don't know how people can turn the love on and off. Maybe they never felt it to begin with. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | People like that make me CRAZY. Animals are life long commitments, period. Unless there is a life-threatening situation, they are life long.
