| HELP! Silkworms, How do I get rid of them? We got silkworms bad this year, it seems all of the DFW area has them bad (wonder if all the rain has something to do with it?). Silkworms are killing a gorgeous Japanese Plum Tree in my front yard, what do I do? We need to save money so I was really hoping to find a do-it-yourself type of solution for this. Is there something I can spray on the trees to kill the silkworms before they completely kill my tree?

| Shana when you have silkworms, MAKE SILK! I would be interested in buying some hand loomed silk from you -- could you dye it purple. |

| Have you ever used yahooanswers.com its a great source for any question you might have...type in the search bar what question you want answered and it will give you a list of questions that were asked similar to yours...here is an example.. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...5153323AAp5CGs Also read the last answer..not sure if he is right or not..but silkworms are native to Asia and wouldnt be what is killing your tree... | LOl, well I'd have to climb up a tree to get the stuff, in my current condition that might be hard but definetly funny to watch!

| I have a huge web in my pink smoke tree, I'm interested in knowing too. You can call the local extension office and see what they say. |

No Longer a Member | Shana, Try gardensalive.com. If you request a catalog, they'll give you a $20 certificate for free stuff. They have all kinds of caterpillar solutions. I'm sure they would be effective on silkworms. |

| I hate those things! Looks like you are not the only one having this problem. Here are some links I found. Be sure you are not anywhere near the pesticide if you are having it sprayed, though, being pregnant! I like the idea of the garlic pepper tea being sprayed or using a power washer to knock them down. Less toxic for us and our furbabies. http://en.allexperts.com/q/Plant-Dis...s-Mulberry.htm http://www.courierpress.com/news/200...long-to-worms/ http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you...d_of_web_worms http://en.allexperts.com/q/Lawns-725...aten-worms.htm http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...5170536AAC3UnA

| I know what you're talking about.....I think we called these "bag worms" when I was growing up. We always used to BURN them out with blowtorches! :O Nothing else would get rid of them!

| The organic solution is bacillus thuringiensis. It is also called BT. It is a bacteria that ONLY affects the worms. It is completely non-toxic to humans or pets. It will not hurt your pups or anything else (but I wouldn't spray it yourself since you are PG). You spray it on the tree or bush and it will kill the worms as they feed on the leaves it is sprayed on. You get it at any organic gardening store and it is not very expensive at all.

| I think it would be good to scratch that idea all-together. AND please by all means, let the hubby take care of any chemicals -- we don't want you or your wee little one exposed. |
