National Guard What do you know about the national guard? I saw a couple of commercials and was considering joining... but I know commercials aren't the best thing to go buy. Any information will help... thanks.

| I dont know anything about it but know a few people in it. I would go to the local recruiter and have a heart to heart.

Whatever you do, do talk to outside sources. Sometimes these type of places will tell you anything to suck you in.

Think of what you are looking to get out of the service, think what you can bring to the service and then pick which one will match best with your needs and attributes. But, even when deciding on a Reserve or Guard component -- fully understand the potential for active duty, including some hazardous and arduous assignments. It can be difficult, but it is very much worth it! Best wishes in your decision.

My dad joined the National Guard to help pay for college. My husband is also considering joining the guard. This day in age, however, my dad recommends the Air Force. They have the most benefits he says. I agree with whomever said to check out all the forces before making a decision.

My Hubby is in the NG. He is does not seem to complain about. He is going on 12 yrs and I know he is shooting for 20. If I'm right and things go well I see for him to stay in longer than that.
