| I'm really annoyed with my neighbor...not sure what to do!! Okay let me explain the story sorry if it's long: One day, I was driving home from Target and I parked in the street in my neighborhood. As I was parking, I saw a black dog. Looked more like a maltepoo...and looked almost gray because he was covered in dirt and looked so dirty!! I felt so bad, I ran out immediately and shooed him away because he was eating a cup of chocolate pudding that was sitting in the wet sidewalk. I tried to get him to follow me back but he ran away..and led me to where he lived..which is in a townhome building next to mine. I told the owner that her dog was walking around in the street and she said omg really? and that was it. Few days later, my mom tells me she just saw the dog in the street again since I told her about it. Than a few days after that, my mom saw him again and almost ran over it this time!!! I'm so furious and my mom still sees him in the street every now and then when she is upstairs in her room. What should I do? I was thinking next time, I should just take him and take him to a shelter? I figured he might find a better owner there...I feel so bad looking at this poor guy. He'd be so beautiful if he wasn't covered in dirt with tangly hair

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | POOR BABY - you can call your local shelter - make sure they do NOT put dogs to sleep first - then tell them what's going on and that you're doing this for his own good - there are so many people that want a smaller dog and he may just be better off in a home where he isn't allowed to run the streets - he's in danger of being killed. |

| If it were me, I'd take him and clean him up. Then I'd hold on to him for a while because you don't want this bad owner to check the shelter, find him there and then take him back home again only to continue treating him in this terrible way. I bet you could find a home for him right here on YT. But I know (from personal experience) that it's a lot of work when you take in a stray. Maybe you could take him to a shelter that isn't close to where this woman lives so that hopefully she wouldn't think to look there. I'm just afraid she will find him and take him back and continue this abuse (because to me, what she is doing to this poor baby is definitely NEGLECT and ABUSE). Bless you and your mom for looking out for this little guy. Please let us know what you decide to do. Best wishes and good luck.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I know we'd all like to take in all the strays we find and Jenn you have a big heart - but make sure any strays or neglected dogs get a vet check first - with parvo & other contageous illnesses out there you don't want to take ANY chances |

Turns out Mugsy was an older dog, around 10 or 12, blind, had a severe eye infection, had terrible teeth and desperately needed a bath and major TRIM. So I had the vet give him all his shots (booster, rabies, etc.) and do a blood test. He also gave him anti-biotics for the eye infection. Then he had one of his staff completely shave the dog (trust me, there was no saving his coat). He was shaved practically to the skin. They also cut his super long nails (each step must have been painful). After paying a huge vet bill, we took him home. When we got home, I gave Mugsy I bath (had to shampoo him THREE TIMES). Then we blocked off a section in the kitchen and put down a pillow (for a bed), food, water and a few toys. Boy did that poor boy scarf down his food, he practically INHALED it!! Anyway, I then found a no-kill shelter and brought him there. I just felt compelled to clean him up first because he was such a mess and I was afraid he'd be put to sleep on the spot if they saw him in the condition he was in when I first saw him (he was pretty awful looking). But I know not everyone can do this. But this story does have a happy ending because Mugsy was adopted by an older person and is now a very happy boy.

| Sounds to me like his owner could care less. I would say to explain to this lady why she shouldn't let her dog out then lose, but if she doesn't care it'll probably do no good.
