| My son is going to propose!!! My youngest son is going to propose to his girlfriend at Christmas. Well that is if he can wait that long. He is 18 and she will turn 18 in April. We couldn't be happier as she is the sweetest thing and you can tell that they really love each other. She has no idea and actually thinks that she is getting a promise ring for Christmas. He took me the other day looking for the perfect ring on a poor persons budget. I think he has found one that he likes. He is trying to figure out the perfect way to propose. Just wanted to share. |

| That's so sweet. This will be a Christmas they both remember. I fell in love at that age and am still married to him. 18 years together, 15 married(had to save up for the wedding and wait till my father received his income tax return). True love is the best!

| A Christmas proposal -- very romantic! So many ideas too -- ring in a stocking, as an ornament on the tree, atop a tiny tree, on an icicle, in a snowball......okay maybe the snowball one would not be such a good idea.... Maybe if it snows, he can write "Will you marry me?" in the snow.

| Christmas proposals are definitely very romantic, but practically speaking, if the ring is given in connection with a holiday, it automatically becomes a "gift". 18 is very young and if things doen't work out and the ring is given as a gift, she is under no obligation to return it. It is given just an an engagement, however, the ring must be returned. My son has a ring ready and waiting. He isn't sure when he is proposing yet, but he just moved to S. Carolina with his girlfriend!! They are both 23. I gave him the above advice that a wise attorney gave me and his words were "hmmm, very interesting". I know no one wants to think in terms of it not working, but rings certainly aren't cheap, even on a poor man's budget!!

| Wow! Congrats. It is very rare that people who marry young stay together but to the ones that do I look up to them. |

| If every thing goes well, he may propose the weekend after Thanksgiving. We are all going out of town to visit one of my husbands brothers and she is going with us. We are staying at a motel that has an indoor pool and a hot tub. He has a horrible time keepinig a secret and should have her ring next weekend. They have actually looked at promise rings so she thinks she is getting one of those for Christmas. It would be a total surprise to her the weekend after Thanksgiving. They have talked about when they get married and what kind of wedding they want but she is clueless that he is going to propose this soon and that she will get a ring. As they had talked about maybe waiting until an anniversary for a diamond. It is so cute to watch him plan everything out. He is actually on a first name basis with the lady at the jewlry store. As he goes in there every couple of days and she actually told him to wait until next weekend to get the ring as they will be 10% off. |
