| May Day! No, I'm not in distress I was just thinking that today is what we used to call May Day when I was growing up in elementary school. We danced around a flag pole with different colered ribbons weaving in and out, at least the girls did if I remember right. It was a pretty big deal back then! We also chose a May Day Queen and I remember being nominated one year but I got beat out by this girl named Lisa Ryan Does anyone remember this??? I'm quite sure they don't do it anymore. Where is everybody at today!?! I guess since it's SUnday lots of the regulars are busy with family and such. I'm doing housework I miss it when everyone isn't on!

| I've never heard anyone else in the US talk about it besides my childhood friends. When we were in the UK though, it was nice

| When I was young (ages ago) we also did the May Day baskets with treats in them. We'd lots of times make our own by weaving paper, or just use paper cups and add pipe cleaners for the handles. We'd leave it at the door, knock or ring the bell and then when the person answered the door, they'd have to catch the giver and give them a kiss. One time when I was chasing a little boyfriend, a neighborhood bully stole my basket. I was heartbroken. LOL Anyway, I still got baskets ready when my kids were young and also for my grandkids...even though most people don't even know what this basket of goodies is all about. This is soooo funny...while I was typing this message, my doorbell rang and there sat a basket of goodies. My niece's kids were hiding outside, so I had to catch them and give them a kiss. I took a picture of the basket...it's sooooo cute! |

| I have never heard of baskets of goodies and things. I have heard of children dancing round a maypole on the end of ribbons in the olden days. We just celebrate it here with a day off work now. |

I know exactly what you mean about how the house gets trashed when you are ill. Happens here too
