Donating YT 500 Club Member | Any Computer People out there? My browser redirects me all the time! I bought a new Toshiba laptop in March.. I have really enjoyed it except for one thing. It constantly redirects me.. to stupid sites or I am constantly battling pop ups all the time.. I am tired of hearing.."Congratulations, you won!" in the background and it is starting to drive me crazy! I don't get it. I have Norton Anti Virus, and Windows Defender. When I run a scan, it says your computer is running normal.. but it still does it! I also use Google Chrome, which I was told was safer.. But it seriously is driving me bonkers.. My pop up blocker is on.. and when it takes me to those sites I copy and paste the link in my block sites, and sometimes that works but, for the most part it doesn't. Anyone have suggestions, or advice?

| I am probably not the best one to give adivse. I just got through having my work computer cleaned up from a bad virus that got past our security program. It was doing some similar things. Windows defender has caused us some problems in the past.....not virus, but it's compatibility with our other secruity program. That might be something to check into.

| Does your browser redirect when you go to a trusted (big) site, or is it happening with only certain kinds of sites? If it is happening everywhere you go, I would say something has gotten to your computer. I have the "congrats, you have won" pop ups only when I go to questionable websites. Firefox is my primary browser.

| Unfortunately, I've got a couple of viruses with what was supposed to be great protection. One of the times was when I had Norton. I called them finally & they scanned the pc remotely & found the virus. Then they said it was too intelligent to be detected, that's why it was there. They continued to charge us $100 to remove it. You might want to have it looked at by a pro, that may be the only way to find it.

| I suggest downloading and running Spybot - Search & Destroy to make sure there is no spyware or adware on your computer. I run it at least once or twice a week. I'm happy to help you run it if you need help.

| You can do the download here: Spybot - Search & Destroy Free Download and Reviews - Fileforum It's pretty simple to use. You can PM me once you download. The program may help.

| That was just something I remembered from our tech. She said sometimes the firewalls work against one another when you have several anti virus programs running, so that is just one thing. It most likely wouldn't have anything to do with pop ups and instantly re directing though. I would also recommend the spybot or another malware/spyware program too. Good luck, believe me I know how frustrating it can be....

| You probably have a trojan virus, I had one like that a few weeks ago. I sorta thought something was wrong when everytime I would google something and I could see the bottom say redirect. Then when I couldn't do my company banking online, I said uh oh..... I ran the the male ware and it got it. spybot and destroy should get it too. |
