| Who was the one who donated to Locks of Love? I remember a while back, maybe last year? that someone donated their hair to Locks of Love. Well my bf is getting very tired of his long long hair, and it's sooooo thick and shiny and awesome virgin hair. I think he's got enough to cover up a few kids heads LOL He says when he chops it off he wants to donate it. What do we have to do?

YorkieTalk Newbie! | You should be able to google that is how I found out where to mail my daughters hair. They do have to have 10-12 inches. Put in the hair in a ponytail and cut right above the ponytail. This allows the hair to be put together and easier to mail. |

| My sister does it all the time and my neice did it too. Most hairdressers know what to do. They now take hair that is colored or processed too. They used to not take the colored or processed. Such a good thing. My neice did a report for her school and showed everyone her hair that she got cut off. Here is all the info: Locks of Love

| Mine went somewhere else. Didn't do L.O.L. b/c there was a salon around here that took care of everything (but it went to the organization that they support). There are instructions on the sites of the organizations that take it, but it's easier to find a place that will cut it and send it out for you...

| My daughter cut off nearly 15 inches of hair at 11 years of age and donated it to Locks of love.. I learned later they are not such a great company and do not use most of the hair donated.... Here is the article that was sent to me AFTER she had cut her hair and donated it! Bad Hair Day: Locks of Love is a Scam I was still so proud of her because her intentions were good

| I did that last Novemeber...as in Dec 08. I got my stylist to put it in a ponytail before he cut it and then he whacked it off right at my shoulders. I put it in a big manilla envelope and mailed it to them. I have not had a hair cut since either. I was determined to do it again, but I don't think I'm going to be able to stand it this time. It's already long and hot and on my nerves and the summer hasn't even started yet. |

| I did it a few years ago. You just have to call around salons and find out if they participate in the program. Their used to be a list of salons on the Locks of Love site, but I'm pretty sure they took it down. |

After reading your post, I found some interesting information: Quote:
Don't know if Wigs for Kids is any better, not as much information is out there on them, but I do know that they only accept hair that has not been colored or processed, and may have a problem getting enough hair. Here's there site: How to Cut a Ponytail for Donation | Wigs For Kids

| awww, what the heck! You wanna do something good and the organizations are never 100% what you think. What should we do then? I know the Locks of Love website says on there hair under 10" is unusable for them. But they do say they sell the unusable to offset manufacturing costs.
