| Credit reports About five years ago, we went to purchase a house and found some negative remarks on old accounts before we did online banking. The accounts were paid, but only a few years old, but we were afraid they'd impact our ability to get a mortgage loan. They included credit cards and hospital bills. We disputed everything and anything on our credit reports. We dug deep to find any reason to request all records & history of payments through the credit bureau. To our surprise....all of the things we disputed-disappeared from the bureau and boosted our credit scores. We're thinking because the accounts were paid and records were probably archived that the creditors didnt want to waste time on something as silly as that. This is just an FYI and if anyone works for a credit bureau or in a collections department...im interested in why creditors dont worry about paid off bills and not arguing with the disputes?? Interesting and valuable information too...thought i'd share |

| I don't know the in's-and-out's too much, but I know when you pay off a bill that is on your credit report you need to ask them to immediately update the credit bureas that it is paid in full, and they will update that info, but it take a lot more time to dissapear if you don't request that they update your credit status.

| thats true too. A few years ago I had paid something off over the phone and asked them to report it to the bureau, but they said they only report on a quarterly basis and I'd have to wait. So I asked for a receipt.....they said they dont do those. I asked him "if i were to come in and pay in full, would you provide me with a receipt?".....he said yes. I proceeded to tell him that I was out of state and wanted a receipt.....he pretty much told me too bad! Make's you wanna scratch your forehead...? |
