| Pet chimp turns violent, sad ending for him, & owner Police in Conn. shoot chimp after it attacks woman - Yahoo! News Its so sad, I can not imagine something as a child and the owner stabbed him trying to help her friend. I always wanted a chimp, I didn't think they could get this mean. Although, I hadn't researched them much. |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | That is an all around sad situation. I've never believed in having chips/monkeys as pets because they aren't domesticated animals, and I've always thought it was kind of cruel. This is just so sad. I do give kudos to the owner though - it must've hurt her to have to stab her pet, but if she hadn't the woman probably would have died. It is unfortunate that this had to happen.

| Monkeys are wild animals and shoud not be kept as pets!! My Gr. Parents had a Cappucine monket when I was growing up...She didn't weigh 200 lbs, She was probably 40 pounds!! But she was very unpredictable and they kept her in her cage when the Gr. Kids visited!! I'm sorry for the heartache that this family is going through!!

| I couldnt even imagine having to stab your own pet.....i feel bad for everyone involved in this situation. Its a terrible tragedy....and now whats making it worse is PETA is an uproar saying the animal shouldnt have been shot At least let the woman grieve over her pet

No kidding! If a person or a dog was attacking a person, pedestrian or officer, deadly force would have been used. Being a chimp does not make it any different. I really could not care less what PETA thinks of the issue. It is obvious the lady loved her chimp, she did not own it to be cruel, she wasnt an animal smuggler and she was not abusive to it. It is a completely tragic accident. I feel so terrible that she had to witness such a terrible thing to happen to her friend! Has there been an update on her?

| This whole ordeal is extremely sad. I listen to a morning show and it's supposed to be funny and out there but when they played the actual 911 calls everyone was extremely serious. Listening to the 911 call was heartbreaking and I would hope no one would have to go through such a thing as witnessing your friend die. She did everything should could to stop the animal, including stabbing him herself. She was so upset and she kept telling them (police) to shoot the animal. It was so sad because she saw this chimp as her own child, but it came down to something like this and she had to make the decision to shoot him and it made me sad. I don't believe any animal that isn't domesticated should be kept as pets. They are all unpredictable and at any moment their animal instincts could erupt. This especially true for an animal you cannot control as it weighs more than you. I hope that she recovers from this whole ordeal, it will take time though.

| I saw the interview on the Today's Show this morning of the lady who owned the Chimp. She had him since he was a baby. Then on our local news they played a small part of the 911 tape from when she called for help. OMGosh, it sounded like the Chimp did a lot of damage to the lady's friends face. I too think it was so sad to hear the Chimp went back to his cage to die.

The news report I heard last night said the Chimp, having known this friend for sometime, did not recognize her with her new hair style and attacked taking 1/2 her face off! This poor lady had several surgeries to go threw in the future and may never look the same again. Very sad for all involved. They also said the chimp took the key and opened the door itself and walked out of the house. | |
