This whole ordeal is extremely sad.
I listen to a morning show and it's supposed to be funny and out there but when they played the actual 911 calls everyone was extremely serious.
Listening to the 911 call was heartbreaking and I would hope no one would have to go through such a thing as witnessing your friend die. She did everything should could to stop the animal, including stabbing him herself. She was so upset and she kept telling them (police) to shoot the animal. It was so sad because she saw this chimp as her own child, but it came down to something like this and she had to make the decision to shoot him and it made me sad.
I don't believe any animal that isn't domesticated should be kept as pets. They are all unpredictable and at any moment their animal instincts could erupt. This especially true for an animal you cannot control as it weighs more than you.
I hope that she recovers from this whole ordeal, it will take time though.
