| Chained Dogs Need Love...Don't They Deserve Better? I came across this organization by accident. I am an etsy.com lover and saw an ad asking for help with chained dogs residing in Indiana. This touched my heart so much and want to ask my fellow friends on here if you could help too. This organization makes Valentines for these dogs to educate the people who own them. I am going to forward the email I received and want all of you to please take a little time and make a Valentine for these sweet hearts I must warn you, the website shows chained dogs, it is NEVER a pretty thing to see. I always try to avoid seeing hurtful images, but I believe this cause is a wonderful one!! For all those interested, please send me your valentine via email or if you can print directly, or have hand made ones, the info following will tell you how to send them. Here is the email Amy sent me regarding this: Mary Jane, I LOVE your Valentine! They are all really cute, but I think the one with your sweet baby is my favorite. I really appreciate your interest and your help with this project. I live in Indiana, and we have a real problem with chained dogs here. One little girl near me has been chained to a fence for four years. I've NEVER seen her off her chain, and her humans just ignore her. A Dogs Deserve Better rep is going to be in contact with the family. Please say a prayer for the dog, that she will have a better life soon. If you place a bid on my alchemy request, I'll be happy to accept, or if you want to just post a custom order in your shop and have me buy it that way, that's fine, too. Right now, I'm planning on buying one Valentine each from several artists (the ones who expressed personal interest in the project!). I'll then mail them all together to Dogs Deserve Better. If you'd like to make more Valentines and send them directly to Dogs Deserve Better, too, I know they would really appreciate it. I think your cards have the potential to really touch owners' hearts. The information is here: Dogs Deserve Better Have a Heart for Chained Dogs Valentines 2009: No Chained Dogs! You asked about photos of chained dogs. Dogs Deserve Better has some available for download on their website, here: Dogs Deserve Better In the News: No Chained Dogs! I'm happy to buy your Valentine as is with the photo of your dog, or if you prefer to use a photo of a chained dog, that's fine, too! Thanks again and God bless you, too! Amy |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | This makes me sick too, and I didn't want to look at the pictures, could you please explain how the valentines will help? I guess I'm missing something here. Best of luck with your efforts!

The valentines are sent to the owners along with a care package for their dog. The website shows the valentines that have been made and the progress they are making in educating the families. This is a new organization to me, and I feel since I found it by accident, I want to try and do what I can! Thanks for posting and if you get a chance, check out the website | |

| Here's where you come in: 1. Make Valentines. Teachers, Students, Scout Leaders, Group Leaders, Individuals please make Valentines! Please note: Sizes should be no biggern than 4"x8.5" so they can fit in a mailing envelope. We're asking you to stress quality over quantity this year...we'd rather have 12,500 awesome valentines that REALLY hit home with dog caretakers. To see what others have done, see the link above. The valentines can say anything along the lines of 'Bring us into the home and family.' Send them to us by February 5th at P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684. 2. Mail Coupons for Free or Reduced Cost Treats or Dogfood. Last year we did not have enough treat coupons to fill all the Valentines. Can you help us out this year by mailing any and all treat or dogfood coupons you have to us at P.O. Box 23, Tipton, PA 16684? 3. Send addresses for Chained or Penned Dogs. This is so CRUCIAL! Please, take the time to find out the address of that chained or penned dog near you, even though it takes a little time...To make our goal, we need to mail at least 12,500 Valentines. Send addresses via mail, call 877.636.1408 to report addresses, e-mail them to info@dogsdeservebetter.org |

| What about people that have outside dogs that are provided with adequate food, shelter, water, etc. How is that any different than people that put their yorkies in xpens or kennels all day while they go to work?

| Many of them out of desperation are hanging themselves by jumping off the porch or over a fence. These pictures are VERY graphic, so understand why I want to help make a change. |

| MJ~how about if you pass this info onto the local Girl Scouts. They LOVE to make card and would be very enthusiactic! When I was a leader we always looked for good causes that would help the girl become better citizens. I will see what I can do on my end as well. You know I always will help with rescue efforts.
