| Need computer itunes help please!! Ok so we got a new home computer Dell w/ vista. I had a hp with xp. My daughter has a ipod and uses her itunes on the old computer. She has 457 song that have been paid for over the years and we don't want to loose them. I took the itunes/folder off old computer and put them on a portable hard drive. My intentions were to plug the hard drive into her laptop and transfer files there...However it keeps saying something about itunes having problems with vista. Her lap top is also vista. Anyone have any idea why it wont transfer or how do I do it. I'm sure there is a way to do it, I'm just not computer savy...lol Thanks. |

| It might be because your old OS was XP and the new is Vista. What folder did you copy, an I Tunes folder? If so, go back to the old puter. Create a new folder on the desktop. Copy I tunes songs to that folder, then copy that folder to the external drive, then try to import with the new laptop. Another thing that can cause problems is ITunes only lets you register songs on one puter at a time, and I think there is a limit on how many devices you can put the tunes on. You have to trick it into thinking they are not I Tunes. You may also have to convert them to a different kind of music file, like MP3, before you will be able to import them. There are several programs out there that will do that, just Google convert ITunes to mp3. It can get tricky but it is possible. I believe this is what I had to do when moving my music files from an XP to a Vista computer. Good luck!

| What if you just plugged the iPod into the new computer? I feel like that is all I did when I got a new computer.
